I don't know how long Bama will use small lineups as starters, but I still don't think they should use small lineups as starters.

The small lineup is intended to use the best offensive lineup, but its disadvantages continue to be exposed rather than its advantages. Certain players have been seeing a decline in efficiency recently.

In particular, in the case of Wrightsell, his shot success rate and volume continue to decline significantly, and in the case of Griffen, they are decreasing slightly.

I still think Estrada or Wrightsell should play off the bench.

The top 16 bracket preview will be next Saturday. It’ll be interesting to see where we sit heading into the remaining 7 regular season games at that point.

They should be. I don’t think understand what Oats was thinking matching up Griffen with Williams. Just too small.

It’s not necessarily a shite take but it does ignore that Oats has already shown a willingness to recruit outside his preferred style.

Wague, Diabate, Pringle, Ambrose-Hilton, Rojas, and Hawkins either don’t shoot, get up and down the floor, or were just not very fast. He processed several of those but he brought them in at some point.

The glaring issue I see is not bulking guys up or actively thinning guys down. Pringle looks like he shed half his body and Wague could easily add 15-20 lbs and not lose what he does. Walters and Nelson could probably add good weight and not lose anything either.

Based on 10 games, the new lineup is as follows:

Starter : Sears - (Estrada or Wrightsell) - Griffen - Stevenson - Nelson

Bench : (Estrada or Wrightsell), Dioubate, Wague, Walters, Pringle

We still have a good record of 8 wins and 2 losses, but to be honest, the small lineup has its limitations and Stevenson is still very young, so there are many shortcomings, but I think it is time for change.

I'm as guilty about this as anyone but we replaced

3 coaches
and 10-11 players?

That is insane. We are in first place and we may not win it? but we may, And who knows in the tourney? and next year?

Alabama Basketball is in an excellent spot right now.

Let's roll and frick LSU!

100% correct!!
Our personnel problem can't be fixed this year, but IMO, a true rim-protecting center (6'10" and up) with a strong frame (270 lb. and up) should be our #1 priority next year..
Truthfully, this year we can't compete with good teams with excellent frontcourt players.

Exactly, all things considered I have looked at this as a transition year since all the loss from last year. The problem is, this team keeps on flirting with making me think they might just screw around and win the sec. They got pushed around last night and that always makes a one loss feel a lot worse. But I would not be surprised if they reel off 3 in a row and set up a showdown with a Uk team that is showing vulnerability.

Ranking Dan Hurley, Hubert Davis and Other Men’s College Basketball Coach of the Year Candidates (SI)

A reigning national championship coach and those who exceeded preseason expectations top the list about a month away from Selection Sunday.

quote:

3. Nate Oats, Alabama Crimson Tide

It’s one thing to lose five of your top six scorers including two first-round NBA draft picks, like Alabama did. It’s another to deal with what Oats did, which was losing all three assistant coaches to head coaching jobs in the spring. Oats had to rebuild his roster and coaching staff in the span of a few months and somehow came out of it with a legitimate SEC title contender. The Tide sit atop the SEC race and are playing their best basketball after some early stumbles in nonconference play. The fact that Oats has the Tide in position to potentially win three SEC titles in the span of four years is one of the more impressive achievements by any coach in the country in recent memory. He should be a top candidate for this award if the Tide finish the job.

Watched a version of grennel(spelling) offense tonight in basketball and I have no idea what I just watched.

102 FGA, 43 3PA and forced 28 turnovers.

Feels like a basket was shot every 6 seconds.

Subs Go 15 Deep with 5 Subbed in/out every few minutes. Press The Whole Game.

This team averaged 120 PPG

Grinnell has been doing that for a long time. It's a blast if you ever get a chance to watch them.

It was with a different team but similar offense. Reminds me of the triple option when it is working to perfection.

Is Oats fixing to go back to a 3 guard starting lineup and having two bigs. One of our bigs has been doing a good job in Nelson but he is not a true 5.

Lamont Paris should be the only coach ahead of Nate in my opinion. Three returning players from last year's team and a full assistant coaching staff turnover and still a top 15 team and contender in the SEC.

I'm not saying we shouldn't consider it, but literally every big outside of Nelson was freaking miserable against Auburn. I'll admit I was a little cross with the decision to go small when Williams was roasting us, but it's not like any of the other bigs proved that was the wrong decision.

I may be in the minority, but I just don't think Stevenson should be getting minutes over Mo at this point unless he's paired with Wague or Pringle (for floor spacing purposes). But outside of shooting , Mo just provides so much more than Stevenson does. Once Stevenson gets stronger, he could be a force, but right now he's getting abused defensively and doesn't provide enough consistent offense to justify these minutes.
