You guys still paying Dubose, Fran, Shula, Price, Perkins, Curry, Kines?
Let's walk through this:
Dubose was fired for cause, no buyout.
Franchione quit and took the TAMU job, no buyout.
Shula had a $4M buyout, as far as I can tell.
Price was fired for cause, no buyout.
Perkins quit and took a job with the Tampa Bay Bucs, no buyout.
Curry quit and took the UK job, no buyout.
Kines was an interim head coach after Shula's firing, no buyout.
ETA: Now do Auburn.
ETA2: Just to complete the circle: Stallings resigned, no buyout.
So that's a total of $4M in buyouts paid by Bama since Bear Bryant, who we all know died almost immediately after retiring as head coach. Are you sure you want to play the comparison game here?

Receivers yes, we have running backs, but you need help being a threat to throw for them to do much more.

Stolen from twitter:
A look at our last 4 Classes. This is the issue:
2019 Class (5th yr Seniors):
•3 starters on D,
•3 back ups on offense.
•0 OL
2020 Class (4th year):
•0 Starters.
•2 2nd string LB.
•2 2nd String on offense.
•1 OL: Career back up
2021 class (3rd year):
•1 RB
•0 OL
2022 Class: (2nd year):
•1 starting WR.
•1 Starting Star (hurt).
•0 OL.
Smattering of 2nd teamers.
6 of 22 starters are HS recruits? Stutts is 7 and a 6th year covid guy. Maybe 15 of 44 in the two deep??
We have 1 starter and 1 back up OL in our two deep from our previous 5 recruiting class.
Gus + Harsin essentially put us on probation.

They just don’t have a QB, Freeze is a good coach, just needs to recruit a QB.
Also need WRs who can get separation.

Harsin deserves no blame for this. It's hard to recruit when major boosters are publicly slandering you in an attempt to get you fired. If Auburn can't see this obvious problem, it'll never get fixed.

He was average at ole miss. Nothing has changed. He will win 8 games a year after he gets a qb and a few players. He will upset someone then blow it the next week.

In this day and age he can go to the portal and they could be at the top of the heap next season. The portal has changed eerything....

We stole Spencer Sanders from them to be our backup for his 1 remaining season of eligibility.
Just because the Transfer portal is there.....doesn't mean they'll get a QB to appear out of thin air.

So what was his excuse prior to this?

This question makes no sense. When exactly is it that you believe was "prior to this?"
He was there to recruit prior to his first season, where he led Auburn to wins over 2 ranked teams and a near-victory over a #3 Alabama team that later became SEC Champs and lost to UGA in the national title game.
The offseason immediately after that is when your school opened an inquiry into why players were leaving because he was holding them accountable, which opened the door for boosters to publicly defame him and completely derail any opportunity to succeed as Auburn's head coach. Then he was fired before the next season ended.
If Hugh Freeze hadn't had a scandal at Ole Miss, you couldn't have found an established coach willing to even answer the phone. Y'all better keep Freeze for a good long time so people can start to forget.

Awwww. You probably believe that don’t you honey?

No, they just need to be patient. They’re coming off their worst hiring decision in the past I don’t know how long. Harsin was never going to win at Auburn, and they shouldn’t expect to go 10-3 or anything close in Freeze’s first year with Harsin’s players. Freeze will right the ship, and Auburn will be competitive again. Hell they kept within 7 points of the team that’s won the last two national championships. That shows they’re going in the right direction. Wouldn’t be surprised if they beat Bama this year.

This thread is dumb. Freeze is a good coach; he’s going to turn things around at AU, it’s just going to take some time to repair what the previous coach destroyed.

Auburn fans realize that. Ole Miss fans are on the struggle bus because they hit their peak on Saturday and know there’s nowhere to go but down.

There is no chance Auburn would have gone after Hugh Freeze and the obvious scandal that was going to come with him if they had other comparable options. You guys are delusional.

bullshite
He was targeted before Harsin. Too bad our AD spent a night in the hot tub with Harsin a decade ago or we could’ve avoided a wasted 2 years

Believe what you want. Freeze can turn it around, but Auburn athletics will have to show patience it hasn't shown in decades for that to happen.
Posted on 10/23/23 at 5:21 pm to imjustafatkid
I will believe what I want. I sure as frick know more about my program than you do.

As opposed to whom?
Harshin dragged Auburn's name in the mud just because he didn't operate in good faith and give his due diligence to make sure he was successful. Freeze was the best we could do.
So you are an Auburn fan. I've seen you vehemently defend AU in multiple threads under the guise of being a UGA fan, which is extremely weird.
