He is also married. So as far as I’m concerned he should be fired for breaking the morality clause of his contract just for being dumb enough to jerk off on the phone with a rape survival that makes a living teaching about sexual abuse.

Does any rational person want to live in a world where you can be accused of sexual assault over the phone? Dumbest shite I’ve ever heard besides being able to change your gender at will.

Given that is the world we live in one could posit that anyone not ending their life is a rational person who would willingly live in such a world.

Here is the thing...it would be damned near impossible for anyone to claim that a person was doing what she claims he was doing on the phone if the accused is not doing something they ought not be doing (so they are recorded doing it) of they admit they were doing it and thought it was consensual. If the woman in question called your home and had a conversation with you about your lawn maintenance routine, for instance, and then turned around and claimed you had sexually assaulted her during that conversation, she would be hard pressed to find any credibility UNLESS you were recorded during the conversation sexually assaulting her OR you admitted you had done what she claimed but thought it was consensual. If you did not do it in the first place chances are pretty good that even if she is so deranged to invent the accusation out of the blue no one is going to lend her allegations much credence...but if you are guilty of bad judgement at best and admit that what she alleges happened happened but you thought she wanted it to happen you have placed yourself at risk.

Excellent point. He is going to have to answer to Ms. Tucker for certain but the University is well within its rights to fire him even if the incident proves to be completely consensual. What on earth could lead a grown man to masturbate over the phone with anyone they have not been in a long term relationship with??? I thought I liked to frick but apparently my libido has never been normal because I have never found it impossible to not jerk off on the phone with a business associate....

Remember that this is the Big Ten. They're the Kings of Coverup. If Tucker is so unaware that he would hit on this particular woman it's pretty much a guarantee that he's inappropriately hit on others.

It's just that the others were either bought off or intimidated into not talking for fear of not being believed.

Don't make him out to be the victim. I believe her, but even if I didn't he's still not a victim. Anyone so oblivious to how the world works should not be in a position of responsibility or power.

As soon as the university lawyers get it ironed out he's gone. They'll fire him just to lessen their own damage over the inevitable lawsuit she's going to file. I doubt that does a lot of good but it's worthy trying. If others come forward, with the past situations in mind there, they're toast.

He’s only going to lose around $80 million. No big deal.

Of course she was paid by the university. Convenient way to get out of a large contract. I’m not trying to absolve Tucker but common sense tells me that if someone called me and started on with sexual innuendos, I would simply hang up. For her to record it and it doesn’t seem to be just one time, tells me she encouraged it for her own personal gain. He’s still a dummy though.

This is the part that confuses me. Have they released the transcript of the phone call or the audio? Is it just 30 minutes of him saying raunchy shite to her and her repeating over and over again that she thinks that it's inappropriate and doesn't want to participate?

If you have a professional relationship? Absofrickinglutely.

Even if you don't, someone in the victim advocacy industry is someone you should tread carefully around. That's not to say that a majority are problematic -only that someone in that space is more likely to be problematic.

I fail to understand why she would ever have more than one conversation with Tucker?

Hang up the phone immediately, report any inappropriate conversation to his supervisor and be done with it, period. Why did multiple conversations take place?

As a culture we really need to address this...adults are gonna frick. They are either gonna do it the traditional way which leads to all manner of ill shite when it goes south or they are going to do it as a business transaction. Why the latter is associated with criminal behavior and all manner of seedy characteristics is beyond me...it really should be the norm and encouraged.
You win for worst possible take.

So the entire case against Mel Tucker, essentially, is that he had phone sex once? And the woman claimed she froze & couldn’t hang up on him. So she claims phone sex was nonconsensual?! But they had 27 phone calls for an average of over 30+ minutes prior!
