Will Saban be another Bowden and Paterno?

He should have stepped away while on top. His best years are behind him. He needs to retire

He didn't win the west last year. No real* titles since 2017

The era of Bama being the ultimate unquestioned king of football is over. NIL, the playoff, and parody make it 10 times harder than it was just a few years ago. I personally don't think it matters if he stays or goes, college football is just different. One team will never pull off what Bama did again.

Were you around for the end of the Bowden era? Just before Jimbo was hired as OC and HCIW, Bobby had one of his boys running the worst offense in big boy football. This ain't even close to that.

I certainly hope not - but reality may be setting in (that is, he may not get another chance to coach a Natty contender).

Did we not win the SEC in 2021?
Are those not "real" titles?

and Paterno?
Paterno was 66-20 his last eight years.

So an SEC title in 2021 doesn't matter? Then why were LSU fans so happy to win the West last year?
Weak troll

To LSU fans nothing is real after 2019…unless LSU wins something then it’s real again.

Nick is definitely not the same guy anymore because of his age but his legacy is solid. In fact it's beyond Joe Paterno and coach Bowden's legacy's combined.

I've never been one to buy into Saban's demise, or predict that he'd leave Bama for another job. I always felt he would retire at Bama. Maybe I'm reading too much into one game, but it wouldn't surprise me if he retired at the end of the season. He just looks tired and not as engaged as he used to be. I'm sure he could keep coaching for a few more years, continue recruiting at a high level and keep winning the vast majority of his games, but the man has nothing left to prove.

Paterno shite his pants on the sideline and he was like 90. Saban still has like 10 years before something like this happens. The decline is slow and then sudden.

You could see it setting in starting about 3 years ago. He's lost the fire. He use to get pissed over a false start with a minute to go and up by 4 TDs. Neither interception yesterday got his blood pressure up or the 100 yards in penalties. He's earned the right to go when he chooses but it's getting hard to watch. Without Young last year the would have lost 4 games and right now I'm seeing it could be at least that this year.

Paterno was 11-2 and finished ranked in the top 10 his last two years when he was 81 and 82 years old.

No "real" titles? So putting up the best numbers in 2020 vs. and all SEC schedule doesn't count I assume?

Yes. This is his life. He’s not stopping. If you slow down you go down

Everything about college football that made him a winner is gone.
GONE.
GONE.
