Nick Marshall holds the single game passing record in yards. And it was against Alabama.
Ashford rushed for more yards than any other QB ever against a Nick Saban team. Not Deshawn Watson, Cam or Marshall. Ashford

Ashford was going against a top 17 defense of Saban's
Their defense slid from top 5 to top 15 in the nation at some point with Kiffin and Golding or whoever.
Cam and Marshall went against goliaths

I absolutely love this one.
Yes, he "set the record" because the offense couldn't pass at all so basically everything had to be a run. By that point we were basically running a ~1950's offense. He literally passed for 77 yards in that game, but sure, leave that little factoid out of it lol.
Furthermore, Alabama was up by multiple scores for essentially the entire game. If I'm up multiple scores I GLADLY trade passing yards for rushing yards on defense because running the football burns the clock, which is in my benefit. Do you know anything about football?
The score was literally 35-14 for Bama at halftime. A three TD difference. Do you think Saban gave two craps about giving up rushing yards to the QB lmao? We had zero shot of winning that game with that offensive plan, so to use that as some sort of "incredible feat" by Ashford is complete intellectual dishonesty. I'm sure there are other QB's that Bama has played who could have ran for 120+ on them...but they were probably too busy completing passes instead lol.

Thanks for proving my point even further. He was in a shite system with bad supporting cast, and Saban knew he was going to run. He still couldn’t plan to stop him.

Even Chuck Norris won’t frick with Nick Marshall.
Robby wears a Nick Marshall cape and runs around the dorms with his arms out pretending he is flying.

jang I find myself wholeheartedly agreeing with you more often than not these days.
want to catch a candlelight dinner sometime?
i think maybe then we just start with some simple, sweet kissing

Let’s line ‘em both up at Cornerback?
Then let’s bet on which one is most likely to get burned on coverage and “give up six”?
I KNOW where my money’s going on that wager.
I’m not asking who’s “the better athlete”…but I know which of those athletes is best suited to be trusted for lock down pass coverage.
…and then?
…Which of those athletes can switch to the other side of the line of scrimmage as a QB…and deliver you to the doorstep of playing for a BCS Championship?

While that is true, they also had much better supporting cast surrounding them. I’m not discounting what they did by any means, just pointing out facts. Scoring 27 points with the situation last season was pretty remarkable.

Nicholas Marshall Sr. | Saskatchewan Roughriders | 2021 CFL Highlight | “LLQ”
Morning ya'll. I follow the Roughriders, at least highlights if not games, and the CFL a bit. It's fun and a bit different. Very proud of Nick and happy for him. I think Auburn and his experience at AU and Auburn changed his life for the better. Still going skrong up north. WDNM.
Never forget the magic. Nick Marshall || Auburn Highlights ??
You may want to use CC. Good memories!
Nick Marshall Waterboy Interview 2014
For good measure, memories and perpective, this is good. Auburn Football Plays of the Decade (2010-2019)
RIP Rod and Linda. And Lutzie. Mad and sad all around.
PS - Have we offered NM Jr. yet? Do it! Do it! Do it!

I agree.
I am glad we have Robbie and he will score a lot of points for us this year. But he is not NM.
Nick Marshall has started at multiple positions in multiple systems at multiple levels of football.
#14 was one of Auburn’s all time greats.
This thread disgusts me.
We may as well start comparing Cadillac to Roc Thomas.
Vs
#9 vs #34 - Who do you take ?

Yea I agree with this..Nick Marshall was like Tommy Frazier, Michael Vick, etc. Hell I thought he was better than Lamar and he should have played QB in the NFL. Dude was a pure winner. Clutch. No shades of Nick out of Robby but Robby is fast and athletic. Makes it look easy sometimes but you gotta be able to make the read option impossible to stop. Nick the Great!

Definitely Bo. Any AU athlete wearing #34 will always be better than #9.

It was statistically one of the worst defenses Saban has had at Bama. Their fans wanted the DC fired 2 years before that game because he was so terrible.

I guess, technically . But this is his 4th year on a college football roster. By this point in a player's career, you usually know what you've got. I think that is the case with Robby as well.
Robby has been coached as a starting QB for less than 1 year and that was during a potato famine. Some of you may want to keep that in mind as you're writing him off. I'd definitely give the edge to Marshall as the better athlete, but Ashford's story hasn't been written yet. Maybe it'd be wise for us to hold off on evaluating him.
