Guy committed maybe 18 violations and gave out $60,000 in cash to recruits. 60k. That is absolute chump change. Especially I the NIL world, how does this guy get a 6 year show cause?

Because UT wanted it to happen.

I agree a six-year show-cause is egregious, but the fact remains when Pruitt was handing out the cash, it was against NCAA rules. (Technically it still is, but ...) So the NCAA can levy whatever penalty they think is appropriate.

I'm with hwyman108 and TomRollTideRitter, though ... I think Fulmer (and UT) knew that Pruitt would be back at Alabama as soon as possible, and worked with the NCAA to keep that from happening. For all the bellyaching amongst other SEC fanbases about Saban and Mark Emmert, it seems pretty clear that Fulmer will use the NCAA in any way he can to hurt Alabama. Why the NCAA continues to operate this way is another question.

Having said that, I still think Pruitt comes back as DC before Saban retires.

I don’t get how we couldn’t at least bring him in as an analyst or position coach.

Now he can have high school kids teach him what vegetables are.

Pruitt seems like the kinda guy who would have you for dinner at his house, and at the table he'd casually pass you a jar of picked pigs feet, like it was basket of rolls or the butter.

I understand that paying players was illegal, but I think that NIL's presence has mitigated some of the NCAA's bluster concerning past behaviors. The argument is that he was just doing what we now allow to happen. If the U.S. changes the law to make dealing pot legal, all the dealers who were previously put into prison for dealing pot get out of prison immediately. The same should apply to a coach who is just now being punished while in the current system.

This seems like one of those things that would get the NCAA sued again. It is arbitrary and seemingly vindictive.

Meat and Potatoes kind of guy that would drink your booze without asking and try to frick your wife.

THEN he would turn it around and make you feel like the bad guy for being pissed off.

100% agree with this.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. The NCAA is as weak as Fanny Mae or Freddie Mac circa 2010. They will take every opportunity they can to flex their muscle. Who is going to commit serious resources against them when they sanction a coach whose last employer endorsed the sanctions? Fat frick Phil knows this as well as anyone and knew he was going to Alabama. He made his pitch to the feckless NCAA fricks and they went right for it.

I definitely believe Tennessee dragged their feet with their case to keep Pruitt out of the SEC longer.

Jim Leonhard wants to stay in the Midwest and I believe he won't be required to go to any road games while working as an analyst.

Can Pruitt work as a consultant for Saban (or anyone else for that matter) like Pete Jenkins does?

Are we confusing Pruitt for Lance Thompson?

So, why was Pruitt not hired as an analyst to do his one year of probation? Word is that he sit a year in whatever position he serves in. Doesn't have to be the one that he will eventually perform as far as I have heard. However my sauces aren't attorneys. They are just YouTubers. Him going serve as a PE teacher rather than as an analyst for us with a eye on the D-coordinator position soon seems troubling.

Some of you may know or remember, but it seems to me that an analyst at Alabama makes between $30,000 to $40,000 a year. I’m not sure how many years he has in the state retirement system but as a teacher with a masters degree and football coach he will be making over $50,000 a year while still building his retirement. If he wins his appeal, then you will see him and Tuscaloosa I’m sure sooner than later.
