Texas and OU are relegated to the Little 10 correct? Or do they get to join the club if Tennessee is included in the Big 6?

Let them win the league then they can apply for a seat at the table

Well, if we're talking from a revenue perspective, I think the Big 6, plus Texas and Oklahoma, bring in a lot of viewers.

Need to at least win the SEC before that changes

If Oklahoma is added, and it is then referred to as the Big 8...how confusing would that be?

What is the qualification to join the Big 6?

Now ask yourself if either of them have accomplished that.

They have to win the SEC to get moved up.

Contrary to popular belief, the big 6 is not a subjective list of teams. It has objective criteria

It's been posted plenty of times, but Big 6 refers to the six teams - Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee - that have won every SEC Championship in football since 1963. If Oklahoma or Texas wins the SEC, then by all means they get to join that select group. None of the other expansion teams have been able to add that trophy to their display case, though.

Functionally they both meet what we all mean by Big 6, but technically no they aren’t in it.

It will move to a big8. You add two blue bloods, you may need to expand the big6.

Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Florida
Georgia
Tennessee (yes, Tennessee)
Texas
Oklahoma.

You have to go back 60 years to find an SEC champ that wasn't a Big 6 school. In 1963 when Ole Miss last won the conference title, the SEC had only existed for 30 years. The distinction of Big 6 comes from only those 6 schools exclusively winning the conference for the latter 2/3 of the conference's existence and continues to grow until someone breaks the mold.

Texas and OU obviously have more history and success than anyone else outside the Big 6 so they're an interesting case, but they still have to earn their way to be considered in that club to make it a Big 7 or 8 imo. Not to mention 5 of those Big 6 schools have won natties since the last time either OU or Texas have. You can rag on Tennessee about being the odd one out in that last group but consider them grandfathered in since they won a natty 2 years before OU's last and 7 years before Texas' last so it's not like they're that far behind and they do meet the SEC champ criteria.

I'd consider OU. They are a perineal contender. Texas and Auburn both benefited from a generational player at QB.

Who cares about the Big 6? The Astros are never going to be Little League world Champs, you think that bothers them one bit?

Post-SEC/Texas merger, consult the below chart to tell if your team is relevant:

Past accomplishments don’t count. They have a clean slate and must prove they can do it in this conference

It is "the six" and was around before the actual SEC in the old SoCon days (seems it goes back to at least the 1920's).

VoLOL's may have been downtrodden since the Fat Man left, but they have the history as a SEC member to qualify.

OU and Utx have 0 wins as SEC schools much less a Natty as a SEC school

It's the Big 8 now (the schools who have won a BCS or CFP title game).

The big 6 is locked unless one of the OG members wins it all

Texas and OU however are the best of the rest
