It feels like Mike Leach was among the last of a dying breed. Old-school football coach (in terms of personal traits, not in terms of X's and O's philosophy) with a ton of personality, as opposed to the corporate-style unoffensive coaching personalities that are so common today. Genuinely funny guy with a lot of interesesting, even if "out there," ways of thinking about the world.
RIP Mike Leach. College football is more boring without you.

I miss him too. He was fun to have around in the SEC. RIP to the Pirate.

Would have loved to hear his take on some teams in the SEC being scared to go to 9 games.
In classic fashion he would have first heard about the controversy from a 19-year-old student reporter named Jason after spring practice and off the cuff come out passionately in favor for 9-games after processing everything out loud.
Then the reporter would have said, “Coach Leach, Mississippi State administration has actually come out on the other side of this and wants 8 games.”
Leach without missing a beat would say, “Well that shows how little my opinion matters in any of this. Really any of our opinions on most things in life don’t matter. This is why you have to learn to focus on what you can control and do it with the passion of a pirate. What about you Jason? I bet having to cover stories like this all day knowing your opinion can’t change anything must be tiring. Tell me, what’s something in your life you can control? Do you have a girlfriend yet?”

Can someone ChatGPT/AI a Leach speech where he gives his opinion as to why long horns pas a certain length aren't functional on a bull?
