This isn't a knock on Hoover, but Pensacola would be a great venue. The only issue is stadium capacity as it only seats 5500. Certainly not ideal, but some of that could be addressed with temporary outfield bleachers. There would also be the possibility of signing a longer term deal with them should they expand capacity.

From a fan perspective its no contest. The aspect of a destination trip including baseball as opposed to a B'ham suburb for strictly baseball would be a big improvement. There are tons of hotel/condo options and there is an outdoor amphitheater on the property and large open areas surrounding the stadium so week long tailgating/camping would be awesome. A state fair type SEC experience with concerts would draw families and make up for any lost seating revenue. Also, downtown Pensacola has really improved over the last few years and is an underrated area within walking distance of the stadium.

There isn't a whole lot of importance on the tournament so schools would love it as it would be an end of the season reward trip to the beach for the players/staff and something of a mini-break before Regionals.

Works for me. There are a lot of spring training fields in Florida that would be a good venue as well. We might need 2 fields.

why not move it someplace with an actual airport. stop trying to make it a pain in the arse to get to. Dallas, Nashville, Atlanta should be the only options

Anything to get out of Alabama huh. Move to a stadium that seats half the folks but just as long as you stick it to Bama.
You LSU folks need to get over your obsession with Bama. We don't consider you a rival, we don't consider you a threat. Look at the football overall series. hell, look at the baseball overall series.
You got this Bama thing when Saban came to Bama. Here's a fact...Only you consider the Bama game a huge deal. Bama has Auburn and UT and you are 3rd but a distant 3rd. The Bama LSU game is talked about in Alabama the week of the game. The Bama LSU game is talked 365 in LA. Snuggle up with A&M because that is gonna be your yearly rival going forward.

Nice looking stadium but not sure the capacity or parking is adequate.

How about Biloxi? LSU fans would make up 90% of the stadium.

Pensacola does have an absolutely beautiful park and surrounding area. That area of town is a bit pricey for most young families though.

I'm from Houston and Pensacola is the only place in the US I have ever been that is more humid in the summer. Its like the swampy river in the movie African Queen.

Hoover is a dump. Really, there are multiple cities that would be a better host.

Better question is why have it at all? Most teams/ coaches really don't want to be there throwing arms. When the teams could be resting for regionals.

Or give the tournament to the Regular season champion?

Dell Diamond in Round Rock was nice for the Karbach Classic

And they have a pool in right field.

All minor league teams are using their stadiums right now. A Triple A stadium would be best, but it would have to fit in the schedule. Nashville is a great option.

I bet if you ask every SEC coach about moving the tournament to a place like Pensacola they would absolutely hate that idea. Too many distractions.

I don’t get why so many people have posted threads about moving the baseball tournament out of Hoover. I have not been to the met in a long time has it fell apart or something? If people just want the game moved then call the SEC office and demand the tournament be moved to Regions Park. It’s pretty new. I haven’t been to a game there but have seen it on tv and it looks very nice.

I for one think this is a really cool idea and deserves consideration from the SEC office. I know as a husband and dad of two little ones, it would make convincing the wife and kids to go to the tournament a lot easier if we could also spend the weekend at the beach. The best part of the tourney, is having all the sec fans represented in the stands. Think of how cool it would be to see tents along the coast of the sec teams and their respective fans celebrating their school. I know when we go to orange beach (Alabama) i enjoy seeing fans represent their school pride with their team gear. One thing for sure after reading this thread, people need to get out of their feelings and be open to new ideas instead of taking things personal and viewed as an attack against their school or state.

Staying near the beach during Memorial Day week would be too pricey for the average family to attend, dumb arse.
