Lying to cops should only be a crime if you are under oath

Am I the only one who still remembers something called the 5th amendment in the bill of rights?

That's why you lawyer up and don't talk.

You never have to incriminate yourself by talking to the police, but lying to them, under certain circumstances, can be obstruction.

And we're done here.

It is kinda fricked up that police can lie all they want.

And it's also why your Miranda Rights remind you that you have the ability to keep your mouth shut.

Always remain silent.
Unless there are four of you and a dead person, in which case start fingering the shooter and turn states evidence as quick as you can.
This applies especially if you provided the gun.

You have the right, most people don't have the ability.

Guilty people need lawyers and resist arrest.

You have the RIGHT to remain silent, the ability is on you....

You have the right to remain SILENT

This 100% of the time. There is nothing good that comes from talking to the cops without an attorney. NOTHING. And very little good comes from talking to them with an attorney.

See above.

You're putting a lot of faith in the system with that one.
Always lawyer up. Your best interest is not the same as the police's best interest. Plenty of innocent folks have been caught up in blind faith of the legal system.

pleading the 5th and lying are not the same thing.

Best not to speak to em at all....but it takes some discipline. Very little good ever comes from conversing with the state's muscle and enforcers....and that is the good cops. The bad ones are even worse....

The government doesn’t want you lying to them cause they hate the competition
Posted on 3/1/23 at 2:15 pm to AwgustaDawg
People dont realize the government can and does lie to you. Just politely tell the officer you mean him no disrepect but prefer to have representation present for any statement.

This isn't the same as "lying to cops".
