Did Carter invoke his 5th amendment rights? Did he plead the 5th? Or did he just lie. They are not the same thing.

It is kinda fricked up that police can lie all they want.

You're literally the most wrong person on the planet. Congrats on the accomplishment.

Deeprig, your rig has sunk....with you in it.

It is illegal to lie to the police in most circumstances. It is a crime to lie about your identity to a law enforcement officer during a traffic stop or while being placed under arrest. Filing a false police report is also a crime. The most serious offense, however, is perjury, which can be a felony.

Don't ever lie to them. Tell the truth; better yet, keep your mouth shut until you get a lawyer.

It’s almost never a good idea to be honest with a cop, but it’s not good if you get caught lying to them.

Exactly. Even if you are innocent. Say nothing more than "my name is ____ and I want a lawyer." They are allowed to lie to you with impunity.

Boy don’t act like you have ever did anything interesting enough to involve the police.

Maybe because I've never talked shite to a cop or acted like a complete a-hole..... to a cop.

Lying under oath is lying to the court… it’s called perjury.

I do have a need for speed, but I do break other laws on occasion.

You aren't talking to a cop after you've sworn the oath, dummy.

There's a little thing called "the right to remain silent".

More realistic that DJ the wannabe thug with a need for speed going 48 in a 45 on his way to watch a premier league match at a sports bar by himself.

Where is lying to a cop a crime?
Every DWI stop starts with, "just a couple of beers, officer"

Citizen: Nothing

Saying “nothing” when asked how much have you had to drink and you are drunk vs declining a breathalyzer. Again 2 different things.
