…truly be evaluated as an offensive coordinator? I have to believe that Nick Saban knows more about choosing coaches than the average poster on the rant!

Bama fans spent all last offseason telling us that Notre Dame was loaded with talent.

This angle is retarded. TCU doesn’t have the talent Notre Dame has.

If Saban chooses him, he must be the very best OC ever. Amirite fellow insecure Tide fans? I mean we are always the best ever, rite?

Every coach is always the best ever in the whole wide world, and every recruit is always the best ever in the whole wide world.

Every year. Right? I mean we are always the best ever in the whole wide world aren't we?

Please tell me we are.

Please.

Rees will get Alabama to not making the playoffs again.

Good hire gumps.

Notre Dame's offense has been crap, no imagination. WTF was he thinking. This is just like his first year when he hired 30-yr old Major Applewhite and he bombed out after just one year.

A few thoughts here:

1. The Bama fan base does not think Saban did a good job of hiring his last two coordinators evidently.

2. If I'm a Bama fan, I'd be cautiously optimistic about the hire. Focusing on the optimistic part, because it seems other coaches have been interested in hiring him. So it's not just Nick, but other successful coaches have wanted him on staff.

3. If I'm focusing more on the cautious part it's because he hasn't had any kind of season that blows you away. Most Bama fans make fun of their schedule, thinks it's light, think they're overrated, blah, blah, blah. If that's true, he will also be facing much better talent now on a weekly basis. The idea that he didn't have talent is not backed by the recruiting rankings. It's not Bama talent, but he's got more talent than the defenses he's facing most weeks on his schedule.

BOB may not have been to the level you wanted, but the stats certainly don't say he was a bad OC. Does Bama have so much talent that a bad OC would look good there? I don't think so.

I think play calling is probably overrated. It's more about the players and off season preparation. But a bad one can probably screw it up. Bama didn't look screwed up the last two seasons, just didn't look like what they were.

Notre Dame has more talent than at least 90% of college football.

Echoes of what all the FB Gumps are saying. Yep, ND doesn't have any talent. Let's face it. Saban just hired a less experienced and less talented BOB.

Quit being a bitch. tRant was going to shite on whoever he hired bc that's what they do. This place melted when he hired Kiffin & it turned fine. Chances are Rees is a very good OC.

If he’s so great and Saban is such a brilliant evaluator of coaching talent, it seems he could have spared himself the public embarrassment of going thru how many OC candidates, just to be turned down one after another, before offering a relatively unknown coordinator $2M to come to Bama?

It's ridiculous for either Alabama friends, or foes to worry themselves about who Coach Saban hires as a coordinator.
Seriously, would you question Henry Ford Sr.'s choice for a production Mgr., or "Red" Auerbach's lineup card?
WTF do you think you are?

If you need Bamas talent in order to be evaluated properly as an offensive coordinator, then that tells you exactly what you need to know about how good that OC is

Anybody who says they know he’s gonna be great or awful, is lying or trolling.

He’s still new to this, TR may be the next great hire for Saban or he may be a miss.

There is no telling at this point.

Saban obviously likes Brian Kelly's offense. It's okay to admit that.

He has had plenty of talent. ND isn't some podunk program. I don't like the hire at all but I'm hoping for the best.

So, are you saying that Alabama is going with an unproven offensive coordinator?
