Would’ve only been like 42 percent for Ochocinco with today’s McDonalds prices compared to when he was in the league

And you have to love what Obsession might mean for the industry. An overhaul of the creative process. Big studios with bloated management, CGI, and ballooning budgets have been producing terrible movies. Obsession shows how the little guys can compete and win. Blockbuster movies don't have to disappear but they should be smaller in number and better made

I would hope, but they tend to take the wrong lessons from these things

Either “well now let’s give the same people 200 times the budget and they return will also be 200X!”

Or “well clearly the success is due to him being a YouTuber/tik tok guy- quick give a blank check to every creator on your instagram feed!”

Then when they underperform go “I guess audiences just don’t want original stories anymore”

My wife doesn’t like horror movies, and I’d like to see it. Is more if a psychological thriller vs straight up horror?

That’s probably a fair way to describe it although probably not entirely accurate to what it is. Definitely not a traditional straight up Horror

It’s pretty comedic and relatable in a lot of ways so I think she’d probably enjoy it

I feel like the BiW definitely is connected to the tree. However I can’t figure out how he’s a ghost but aging?

Think the real answer is just kid actors age quicker than it takes to develop multiple 10 episode drama series seasons
Curious how this season would feel on a binge vs seeing them weekly, seemed like it barely moved things along this season and they wanted to get their full 5 seasons rather than compact the story to the amount of time they really needed.

Was expecting a major purge towards the end of this season, seemed to only kill characters that had recently been introduced and do fake outs for the main players. Feels like they should’ve laid some real cards on the table in terms of the past or current situation to set the ground work for next season. Instead it’s just more sort of veiled truths and edging
There’s apparently another Chris Johnson who was a runningback for a different school who has health issues that this may be about and wires got crossed
Seems like a reasonable decision given the alternative is probably like 20 straight hours of a Rob Dyerdek show
Get an AMC pass (25 bucks). Book a ticket for yourself, watch it and decide if he can watch it.

If he can, book another ticket under your amc plus and buy his under a child’s ticket price. Spend the same money in the end

Rinse and repeat for future movies

No one here has seen the movie, we’d have no idea what’s in it
Those guys will pull out the ole reliable “well things are so crazy these days don’t you think it’s bad enough that it COULDVE been true?”

Some guys are fighting the 2010s era culture wars like the stories of Vietcong fighters who still thought the war was happening 20 years later

So its Batman...

Yea well actually

They originally wanted to call it The Dark knight and WB quickly told them to frick off
Interesting that this thread was almost exactly a year before Covid shutdowns and the height of the open concept/ping pong table era of these type of jobs. Seems like the reaction to the satire of Office Space was this day care ification of office life which in some ways was even worse than the cube life

Now we’re in another evolution of the office life with WFH/hybrid life

That seems fair. And I always felt the same with the contrarian thing. I will say Hollywood is one of my least favorite QT movies though. I have no idea why that movie is so beloved; it’s nowhere near top tier Tarantino IMO

It’s one of the best movies of the 2020s. Might be QTs most fun movie.

eems like i remember a clip where characters from another QT film show up in this movie? Or did I dream that?

Micheal Keatons played the character Ray Nicolette previously in Out Of Sight, which was a Soderberg movie based on another novel by the same author as Jackie brown. Not connected to any other QT movie characters

Out of sight is a banger too

It’s close with OUATIH, pulp, and resovior dogs - mainly a personal favorite of mine

I think it wipes the floor with kill bill tho

This is one movie that I’ve never seen and always go back and forth on whether or not I’d like it. I like QT movies a lot but this one always felt different to me for some reason. How does it rank with his other movies?

Personally it’s my favorite. It’s based on a book so while it still has some Tarintino flair, it’s much more subdued and the movie moves like butter.

Solid movie overall but not in the same class as Pulp, IB, Django, Once Upon a Time, Kill Bill.

You’re right - it’s in a class above those.

Thought the De Niro casting was odd since he plays such a passive seemingly ancillary character.

Reportedly he wanted to play the lead, but QT had already promised it to Robert forester and they butted heads all production bc Deniro was pissed.

Ended up being the right call. Forester in this role is one of my favorite movie performances and great chemistry with Pam Grier
What is actually the point of regurgitating some LLM garbage in a board for discussing movies and opinions on movies
AI will crumble before it ever makes real impact. These companies are losing more money than we’ve ever seen before and eventually investors are going to stop subsidizing the free ride and once the real cost gets out there it’ll completely unravel the entire Ponzi scheme these companies are running

Remains to be seen if this causes the long overdue tech crash and ensuing financial crisis
The packers (which I would assume are on the lower end of this) reported an operating cost of 634 million in 2024

Much closer to an apples to apples comparison, albeit still not perfect due to other sports being in the mix for OSU
I think Reauxl was just saying he hopes the headline is clickbait and not true since he’s a bama fan and not directly saying they are bogus
Higher than I would’ve guessed but I don’t think it’s all that shocking coming out of the media/podcast boom. Guessing she probably got a lot of performance bonuses from the athletic podcast she did with Chase Daniel that’s a part of that and they were competing with her pulling from espn or going independent or another place like barstool or the ringer. The salaries at those companies would probably make you do a spit take for guys who have much less recognition and background than Russini did before signing there

NYTs as a whole isn’t a business model that really makes money and the athletics whole business model is to overpay for talent in order to buy legitimacy given they are a relatively new news organization
