I mean they certainly took creative liberties in some areas but plot wise it’s pretty beat for beat with how it happened in real life. And I think the picture they paint of Hansen overall is not an unfair one based on what’s he’s said and done in his life, nor is it really directly admonishing him for his flaws. I think they leave a lot of that up to interpretation

Need to start calling sideline QB runs like slide plays. The little “ehh ehh ehh ooo im out of bounds no touching!” To get a first down by an inch is silly

I think if you’re counting this kind of thing you have to account for the performance. Despite playing Kurt Warner, Chuckie had some of the worse looking mechanics/throws you’ll find in a movie from what I saw :lol:


Keanu in the replacements and Willie Beamon would be 1st and 2nd in some order

George of the Jungle still holds up

Put a grainy pre HD filter on it and most people will be like “hell yeah, that’s real football before this generation pussified it”

What was interesting to see was that pretty much every thing in the previews and that has been memed like crazy leading up to this, all happens in the first 5-10 minutes of the movie, so doesn’t feel like any of that gave anything away for the movie overall

Honestly his writing hasn’t really changed that much since his west wing days, the ideals of neoliberalism that he so desperately wants to champion are just so dead in the water that it just sounds way cornier in modern context. I think if west wing came out today people would be eye rolling the entire time and it wouldn’t make it past 6 episodes. And I don’t mean that to disparage the west wing, just think it only works for that specific time of American politics and pop culture.

I think the Newsroom is a pretty good proof point of that, the writing was just as slick and had the same world view, but the cringe outpaced style and substance.

Fincher was like a perfect match for him as a screen writer to get the dialogue sharp while constantly beating him into submission about being more subtle. There’s clips of him just dissecting every word of the original script to his face and being like “cut that shite down” basically


Him as a director/creative lead and writer really leads to expert levels of sniffing your own farts
