$4 Million Raise for...?

"It just means more" is the motto for the SEC and it's almost sad how much our football programs mean to us myself included. Tennessee giving Josh Heupel a $4 million dollar raise is just another example of how desperate programs are to succeed in this tough league. What are Vol fans expectations under Heupel and when do you expect them by?
You just nearly doubled your coaches salary and he is yet to even win the SEC east or make the playoffs.. Winning the SEC east is a huge challenge hurdle to get over with Georgia and it gets harder trying to win the SEC championship. Its a win now or hit the door era, how long do you stay patient before trying to get over the hump?

-Well the 4 coaches that make as much as him or more, he went 3-1 against. Saban, Stoops, Smart. and Kelly.
-There has only been 2 coaches that had a better season in the SEC in year 2 than Heupel. Smart and Saban. Smart had a loaded roster to deal with when he got to UGA.
-When Heupel was hired it was the hardest job in the country. No one expected a bowl game last year due to circumstances he had to deal with up front. No one expected UT to win 11 games this year. Heupel had to deal with NCAA investigations, 31 players transferred and the year prior to Heupel UT was 3-7.
- UT self imposed penalties due to the Jeremy Pruitt cheating issues. UT self imposed scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions and more and still Heupel still went to bowl game his 1st year, and NY6 bowl in year 2.
-This year Heupel was #12 in coaches salary in the SEC. Then he goes 11-2 and all of sudden he’s the next hot name. To keep a good coach you have to pay him more than the coaches he has beat or at least give him a raise to where he is in the top half. What is absurd is stoops making $9 million at Kentucky to finish in the middle of the pack. Expectations at UT are high and now they’re even higher.

This comes across as jealousy.

Schools have unlimited funds. Should have been a coach.

He's now paid like a Top 10 coach. Not sure what exactly the issue is.
It's a huge raise because his initial salary was super low.

Tenn wiped the floor with LSU in LSU's stadium. The SEC Champ game would have been easier than the winning the East this year.

He's the 5th highest paid coach in the league and tied for second highest in the SEC East with Stoops. He finished 2nd in the East, and this salary reflects that.

Are you talking current or all-time?

I understand that this will be over your head, but Smart didn't have the wild west of a transfer portal in his first 2 years so your 'comparison' is extremely flawed

Which is crazy to say since it was like 4-5 million. Seems like only yesterday people were sky screaming when Saban signed that $4 million a year contract. Now the Vandy coach probably makes that.

So he inherited a stable loaded roster without fear that the players could just leave if they wanted. Made Smarts job even easier because players had little choice but to buy into Kirby’s vision.

These raises and extensions after only two years never, ever backfire. Never.

So he also didn't have a bunch of players transferring out.
You didn't think that one through did you?

That's a lot of Krystal for that fat frick, whose sole accomplishment is barely breaking the TSIO streak for Bama.

Because players always transfer out, especially during a coaching change.
You're really, really bad at this.
