UGA record 2 years prior to Smart:
2015 - 10-3
2014 - 10-3
20-6 overall
Smart record 1st 2 years at UGA
2017 - 13-2
2016- 8-5
21-7 overall

2020- 3-7
2019- 8-5

Smart took over a team that had consecutive 10 win season prior to him getting there.
Heupel took over a team that had 31 players enter the portal month before he was hired. Tennessee was also on under investigation and self imposed scholarship penalties along with recruiting restrictions.
I think if you reversed the coach’s Heupel would have had the same success at UGA as smart did taking over a 10 win team. But could Smart have taken over a 3 win team and went to NY6 bowl in year 2 of a rebuild? Smart is a great coach, but he indeed took over a loaded roster. Even Saban didn’t have the talent at Bama when he took over as Smart did at UGA. Bama was also on probation when I believe and had to forfeit some games in Saban 1st year.

Congrats on the 2nd place finish, that wasn't my question... I know Vol fans, you are not patient at all. What do you expect under Heupel and when? 4 of the 5 highest paid coaches are coaches who have won national championships, Bryan Kelly being the only one who hasn't but a very established coach. Tennessee fans are as irrational as they come, when do you expect to win the SEC or make the playoffs?
