One possibility is having Pruitt on staff as analyst but he will be on field analyst due to new rule changes in CFB and a possible stop gap in place but that would be Grantham, short of him doing an excellent job and retaining position. If it’s someone like Leonard he would be here until he takes another job I wonder if Austin could be made a coDC and just have Pruitt teach him and game plan with him until Pruitt is cleared?

Bingo! I think that's a feasible work-around for a brief delay in Pruitt being DC -- Austin can be his understudy / temporary "frontman." Then when Pruitt officially becomes DC, Austin is his Co-DC/ILBs Coach.

Just wondering out loud, but I think the 2 most likely possibilities are:
1) waiting on things with ncaa and Pruitt
2) hiring a DC who has a bonus to stay on at current job through 2nd signing day in Feb

That’s it. Nick needs to hire me asap as a hiring analyst and give me lifetime tickets to all Alabama football games.

I don't understand how a coach whom everyone knows was buying hookers for players can not even miss a beat going to Liberty and back to the SEC in a flash... however the best coach in this conference's history has to beg and plead for an ex-HC to be a DC after he was caught doing what everyone is doing now openly?

Seriously, Saban should tell them to all go to he'll and make the hire. They're all toothless anyways. What will they do? Send another officiating crew to screw us over like they did against rocky top?

As far as I know, Pruitt had no major violations of NCAA rules prior to UT's dubious scheme to make him their scapegoat and fire him 'for cause' to avoid his buyout. UT and/or it's boosters probably funded the payments delivered by Pruitt (and other staff) to players/parents.

That is the worst part. Their boosters are the ones who funded it yet they got to enjoy last season with penalty and are probably one of the biggest resistance factors in the conference against Pruitt getting this DC job.

It's crazy and we should tell the conference to shove it.

Why? The University has the authority to hire anyone. The SEC only requires a consult. Personnel decisions are made by the university. Even show clauses mean nothing outside Saban would have to explain himself to the NCAA.

Nothing prohibits the hire except bad optics.

ETA….and compliance risk.

You lost me there.

He was almost certainly guilty and complicit, and didn't he admit as much? I'm sorry I don't fully believe the 400 dollar sack lunch to save a players momma from cancer defense.

That said, 2 yrs time served and another with no recruiting contact for a year seems sufficient

He's a top coach in the 2nd most corrupt coaching league in college athletics. All of the kids get money now. Time to move on and let the man coach.

I’d bet the farm that Fat Phil was 100% behind it. Pruitt is sharp as they come when it comes to defense, but doesn’t come off as a rocket scientist in most other areas. Fat arse Phil likely told Pruitt to “let me know if our boys need anything, ANYTHING at all! Our boosters are here to help!”

So assuming it isnt Pruit, (I'm holding the faith) we obviously dont want Grantham. Who else is out there that would tip the needle for you guys?

I think it is Pruitt. From my understanding the NCAA can’t prevent him from calling plays they can just prevent him from recruiting for a year or two. I think there’s something behind the scenes we aren’t privy to that’s holding it up but not the NCAA. That’ll be fine. It could be a payment from Tennessee he doesn’t want to miss out on. It could be Saban wants a co-dc and he wants to let the guys he’s interviewing know that when he meets with them and not from the media.

I will go back to something I posted a few weeks ago

quote:

He (Pruitt) and Fulmer had alot of two peas in the same pod about them but Fulmer was more experienced at back-stabbling his way up, cutting the legs out from under his superior and taking the credit that was not yet his to take. Fulmer got him before things could fall back on Fulmer.

Pruitt knew Fulmer was a snake. Pruitt thought he could be the snake's guy and let Fulmer do Fulmer things. The snake bit him. Pruitt was not bright enough to protect his own arse from the snake standing behnd him.

So you’re telling me a guy who didn’t know what asparagus was, overestimated his skills against Fat Phil? Lol

Why not make that young guy from Southern Miss Co-DC in that case? He is coming from a DC spot an the optics would be better, also allowing him to gain experience under Pruitt.
