I am here for serious conversation only, sir, anything other than that is below me.

Or was that anything other than that people can blow me. I never can get that Shakespeare stuff right.

I think we go all in on Walker and just let him roll.

Walker White -= QB1

Yeah, Walker White with the WR group we’ll have for the next 3-4 years is going to be dangerous. Even next year with Thorne should be a significant upgrade.

I'd give Thorne part of Spring and then let him jump ship.

Sink or swim... no need to further baby this guy. And with Alabama A&M, Cal, and New Mexico up first maybe Walker wouldn't be snowed under. Plus neither QB has any time in with our new and improved receivers.

eta: Plus Hank still might prove usable - he does have that scout team time - and he did impress me that one time, which Payton has yet to do.

Scout time indeed. I loved his interview with Zac regarding that pass to Burton, he said "I came to the line of scrimmage and they were in a cover four, we snapped the ball and the safety followed Fair so I knew Burton would be coming open deep on a crossing pattern and I just had to throw him open."

Freeze has said repeatedly regarding QB play:

Are you seeing what you are seeing
Do you make the right decision
Do you make an accurate pass

Sounds like Hank gets it, and Walker as well, should be a very good Spring.

That’s pretty cool. It appears Walker has the height on Bo.

Not just the height. Walker looks bigger than Bo and Bo is not a small guy.
Physically, WW is ready to go now

I agree with going with Hank or Walker, but Freeze still needs to bring in a portal QB to compete. Especially with the high probability of PT and/or Holden leaving after spring.

We are going to flood the portal with useless QBs

If I have to watch Thorne take one more snap for us, I’m gonna off myself. Don’t make me do it Hugh

You could complete passes to Cam Coleman and Ryan Williams. This is the difference between last year and the 2024-2025. Ken Dorsey, Jason White, Greg McElroy, AJ mccaron and a whole host of other guys never took a meaningful snap in the NFL, but led their teams to championships. All we have to do is bridge the gap till Walker White and possibly KJ lacey

I'd Rather WW/HB start next year than a 1 year rental at QB. Bo started as a freshman

This.

I’ll still expect one or two boneheaded decisions per game from Thorne but I expect a lot of the drops and dogshit routes from his receivers to go away, and him to look far better as a result.

I’m not completely against him being the caretaker at the position one more year.

I want an explosive offense. Step 1 to that is every player getting after it every play. Not half assed routes, not trotting to get in your routes, not firing off the ball in run plays goes for every position on offense. Once those things are completely fixed then I’ll start bitching about QB play.

However we need better QB play I personally just don’t think that’s the issue with last years offense

Perhaps

But let me but it this way, if CorchJay were the multimillion dollar 2nd year corch, would you feel comfortable going into this pressure cooker of a season with only this roster of QB's?

( not other considerations - not lines nor other players - just quarterbacks )

How many times has Hugh said that 2025 is the year that we compete for championships. Who cares about a 1-year guy for 2024?

Start Payton if he wins the job and get WW lots of reps to prep for 2025. If we need to get a portal QB in 2025 then so be it but we don’t need one this season for the money it will cost.

Let’s say you bring in an upgrade for the same amount, and PT leaves. The NIL money doesn’t change then.

In that scenario then the QB probably isn’t an upgrade and won’t enroll until the summer/fall and we are right back at square 1 with having to learn the playbook and concepts.
