The difference between the 11-2 season and the 5-7 season was the o-line. 4 new starters on the o-line during the 5-7 season and they were abysmal.

I don't think Thorne is the answer, but Freeze is probably smarter than I am. Thorne will live or die depending on how quickly all the new players we are getting get acclimated and up to speed in the system.
If we had half a semblance of a passing threat this season, who knows what our record would have been.

Throne losing his job is a bit of an exaggeration. They had another guy who was going to compete with him.. then that guy sucked this year and transferred out of Mich St. I think Thorne would have beat him out.

He also lost Kenneth Walker out of his backfield when his stats started going down. A RB averaging over 6 yds a carry is going to open up the passing game. That same year with Walker, they had two WRs while Keon Coleman was a freshman with more than 35 receptions averaging over 17 yds per reception. One, whobwas drafted as a Jr. Not to mention the attrition on the OL.
They were obviously missing a lot of key pieces after the '21 season with Walker. It's pretty muchbgoing the opposite direction here since we are adding talent around him.
