RW isn’t making a decision on if we get a portal QB or not. Either we win the recruitment or we don’t. RW even as talented as he is if he reclassifies he won’t be ready for play until around mid season.

I did find it interesting that Coleman came to campus to visit with Bolden yesterday.

Seems the recruits are selling themselves on Freeze theme of coming to be the ones who built it back.

I like the spirit make Auburn great again

I like it. This would give power schools the chance to separate themselves from schools that just don't have the money to stay competitive. It is more fair for everyone.

I think the NCAA got wind that schools were thinking about ditching them and wanted to get out in front of it. This way they stay relevant while giving schools what they want.

Top recruits, the best guys, want to play with top recruits. They want to play against the best at practice. They want talented rooms

It shows time and time again

Glad that coaches like Dabo will learn how to actually coach to earn their paycheck

Hadnt thought about that in years, a typical Pat Dye dry humor zinger. They were talking on his Sunday show about the NCAA cracking down on test scores for players and Dye said "Heck I think its a good thing, they should make certain, heck I think coaches should have to take one to see if they can coach.....just kiddin Danny". He was referencing Danny Ford the coach at Clemson.

Sorry, back to recruiting....

Anyone with a rivals sub, did JGT say HF is leaning towards not taking a transfer QB?

Yea kinda sounds like it, at least maybe not a 1 year guy.

Also Edwin seems to be trending bammer after his visit today. Sheesh at the fricking oline. Looks like we may slam dunk it next year though.

OL and DL is generally really a 24 month process.

However I still expect Edwin in the class. Our class will be small so opportunities in future will be appealing to a guy that is definitely raw and will need development

What a fricking mistake that would be. So will have the same shitty QB room as this year.

I’ve been pleased with what Thornton and Garrett did on the field coaching but they’re going to have to deliver on the recruiting trail. To Thornton’s credit he did reel in the pieces that made this years OL so much better.

The stuff I’ve read has been that HF doesn’t want to empty the Brinx truck a QB. Not that he doesn’t want to make a solid offer, but not going to make some insane offer and use up a huge chunk of the allocated NIL.

I get that line of thinking to a degree but we’ve gotta bring in at least one more guy IMO.

And one play away from not having one.

We may not take a QB. I don’t know. But I also doubt the beat guys know yet either.

This is only the second day of the portal being open for entries

The gist is that our resources are finite. They need to be distributed on a yearly basis in a resourceful manner. The investments need to pay off so that the money people continue to donate. We needed an upgrade at WR more so than any position potentially. The coaches think that Thorne could be serviceable with talent on offense.

Also this is year 2 of the rebuild. Why waste $2m on a 1 and done transfer qb when we won’t be competitive until 2025 most likely (due to taken gaps being addressed via recruiting).

At this point, we need someone to fill the gap between PT and WW (if he is the guy). Throw $ at OL, DL, WR and build a better overall team.

I can't imagine Freeze accepting another year of being completely one dimensional, with that dimension being running the ball. He will do something I'm sure, just might not be a million dollar guy. For QBs I think they are being a little short sighted. Why not take less now, play for Freeze, and take a shot at NFL millions? Why take $1.5 million and go kill your career at A&M?

Amaris Williams

Would be huge to flip him. I'm really interested in this one. It would be us eating Florida's lunch again, and he's got 2 predictions on 247 to flip to Ohio State.

If we can get him to sign, this staff hill have left zero doubt that they can recruit at the big boy's table.
