When asked about stress Lou said “I sleep like a baby, I wake up every two hours crying.”

And loser sports fans who worship atheltes support this crap. Most nfl and hardcore cfb fans would let a star player get with their girl if it meant they would come to their team

deltaland we are cool and all but did you have a close family member on Regan's financial staff? I did, and it may not be in the history books but they were there, and we have discussed often in the decades since. While they thought they were helping I have been told they were some of the most distaterous decisions in the rearview mirror.

Carter started alternative energy but Regan killed it, we lost 40 years of research

Regan let in the moral majority who was neither. While I am strong in my faith, it is different when you have a country founded on separation of church and state

We had a dual media because of the FCC and the "equal time" law. We had 50,000 media sources. Now we have around 5 and they care more about clicks than citizens

Government ran our military and police. Regan privatized prisons and stated us down the world of Corporate armies. Can't tell you how many Jarhead friends went through Langley and to the Gulf in the service of the US only to hired by private contractors at the end of a few tours

Regan shut down the long term locked mental health care facilities to save money in the short term but unleashed the massive homeless problem we have now. This transferred qualified care to mental health care by police (and private jails) at 8 x the cost

Pre Regan, the Republican Party had lots of local and regional firms who employed US citizen to make US goods. Regan was the first to flip and allow W#all Street to privatize public companies and outsource outside our borders.

Take politics out of it as both extremes are bad for the actual citizens. We had moderates - and smart ones at that - with Ike but that went down the crapper in the deals Ronnine made to get the votes to get elected.

quote:

we won’t get the latter 2 with a Democrat administration

I made more money under Clinton than I did with any reccent POTUS and I wish Bush Sr had been POTUS in 1980 instead of Ronnie but it is water under the bridge. If this country has a chance they need to stop bickering and hold BOTH D and R to the fire till we change the house to a government committed to the people and not the corporations.

Kind of right, but apples to oranges. Remember JFK “ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country”. Well, that doesn’t exist anymore. It’s a generational thing. Obviously, it’s also the boomers’ fault for bad parenting. Everyone is very entitled. Kids these days want CEO pay with just a high school diploma.

No, they just realize what a scam it is when the people on the top of the pyramid, taking far more than what they are actually worth, are spouting out platitudes about sacrificing for the greater good. I do believe that great societies do work for the greater good, but that kind of society is not compatible with pure capitalism.

This is how I think we went off the rails:
1. Television =
2. Commercials for neat stuff we really wanted =
3. "We really NEED this stuff" =
4. Wife goes to work =
5. Latchkey kids =
6. Growing parental guilt =
7. Indulging the children to ease guilt =
8. Spoiled little snots who become the "entitled"

The good kids are most likely the ones who were raised by parents who put their children above accumulating stuff, especially the mothers who embraced the toughest, most important career a woman can have. Okay, men can raise children too, but, imo, women are made for it, and generally better at it.

What do you expect? Most Gen Z kids were coddled and put in “time outs”. I remember being in the principal’s office in kindergarten when he had the paddle lol the tone was set, if you frick up, you get disciplined. You ever get that pink slip stapled to you for your parents permission? I think they banned paddling that year too. Dang that was a long time ago. I was jealous of the kids that were coddled growing up until I saw it just made them shite talking wennies. They want to express all their thoughts, and say rude shite and just act like a coward when butt whoopings come their way. That’s my rant.

I too agree that the structure of America started breaking down when we stopped letting strangers hit our kids with boards.

I do not necessarily agree with that but I do believe that we lost our kids when we stopped giving out beatings at home for major screw ups. Time out isn’t the same thing.

Spare the rod and spoil the child.

Yes they did. There just wasn't the internet and everyone didn't walk around with recorders in their pocket that could immediately reach more people than Cronkite.

Lou's endorsement and support of a controversial Southern Republican politician was the icing on the cake for his departure from ND.

Lou is right as they come.
