Lolz. Lou Holtz and the greedy arse boomers of this country are the reason we’re 31T in debt. A huge chunk of young people in this country can’t even afford on a house to live in but it’s somehow their fault.

Kind of right, but apples to oranges. Remember JFK “ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country”. Well, that doesn’t exist anymore. It’s a generational thing. Obviously, it’s also the boomers’ fault for bad parenting. Everyone is very entitled. Kids these days want CEO pay with just a high school diploma.

The problem is Americans in general do not want to be held accountable for their life decisions, it's always somebody else's fault. See above.

It’s ALSO the boomers fault, not, it’s the boomers fault. You proved your own theory deflecting responsibility for your shitty kids and grandkids lol “oh it’s all their fault”. It’s tone at the top of the family tree. But who cares, I’m sure the Boomers grandparents thought they sucked too.

I genuinely love that man.

I do as well. Was living in Arkansas in the salad years of Broyles, Lou, and Eddie and was fortunate to be around them early in their careers. Arkansas was not a bad place - Bear came from there - and Pine Bluff produced some fellows I would follow into battle.

Kids today have no clue one how to play both ways and play for the love of the game. I can assure you most every one of my coaches would be in jail by todays standards but we all survived and some got tougher in "3 a days" than they did after in Boot Camp.

Coach Holtz was a quote machine. His first season as a HC was at William & Mary and finished 3-7. When asked to sum up the season he replied "we have too many Mary's and not enough William's"

So with your sophomoric reasoning it's the Greatest Generation's fault for the Boomers being so soft on their millennial and Gen X children? See how stupid this blame game becomes? It's the same BS blaming white Americans today for all the ills of the black community even though slavery ended over 160 years ago.

If a person knows the basic concept of right vs wrong, good vs evil, if they accept personal responsibility for their life decisions, they come to understand that blaming others for their actions and behavior is a personal problem and they figure out their life is what they make of it. The fricking Boomer blame game is so worn out....suck it up wussy.

Every older generation says this about the younger generation.

I would be the first to agree -and I have the vision being older ...

However, this past generation or so may be the first in humans history

#1 Know more about the Kardashians than they do their own family
#2 More influenced by modern media than their faith
#3 More impersonal and less connected to their community
#4 More important to get a "selfie" than a group picture

I am not saying there are not good kids out there - because there are - but they are becoming more a minority than a mainstream

If you want to see this in full force opend some time at a senior center. Lots of history being lost everyday by kids who never visit. When I was a young man we had dinner every night - no matter how poor - with 4 generations of family at the table sharing thoughts, ideas, and stories between us.

How often has that happened since say 2000?

I come from and age of survivors
This is the age of victims

Does not matter what generation you are born into, it you remain the victim you will fall father and farther behind those who survive, learn, and move forward.

I was on business up north once years ago and I'd eat and drink at this bar near the hotel each night. Some kid maybe 25 years old was around the bar and he'd let you know he was a "CEO" of his own company. He had a card, his name on it, and "His Name" Enterprises was the name of the "business." He also said he worked at some motel to make ends meet.

Come to find out, his business was selling shoplifted merchandise out of the back of his car. But he was completely serious about being "a CEO" - that self-identification thing was not him being sarcastic. He really believed it

What do you expect? Most Gen Z kids were coddled and put in “time outs”. I remember being in the principal’s office in kindergarten when he had the paddle lol the tone was set, if you frick up, you get disciplined. You ever get that pink slip stapled to you for your parents permission? I think they banned paddling that year too. Dang that was a long time ago. I was jealous of the kids that were coddled growing up until I saw it just made them shite talking wennies. They want to express all their thoughts, and say rude shite and just act like a coward when butt whoopings come their way. That’s my rant.

we’re 31T in debt

As one who lived through it I can tell you this is wrong. 2 things cause most of the modern financial bubble you speak of

The oil shocks in the early and late 70's. No matter what Nixon, Ford, or Carter did, they could not "fix" this problem in their terms and it caused turmoil in the American psyche

"Greed is Good". Politics aside Reagan was a sunshine pumper as he had no solution either but he did load up on debt and went on a spending spree and was viewed as a great guy. At least Nixon, Ford, and Cater tried to fix it. Ronnie and Wall Street just levered up and pushed if forward.

If you want to understand the 31T in debt, you need to start here and blame us for taking the easy way out to get rich quick, instead of feeling the pain and working through the 80's with less debt but a stronger future.

I too agree that the structure of America started breaking down when we stopped letting strangers hit our kids with boards.

There is some truth in what Holtz said and in some of the responses here but the problem is the troubles going on in our society can not be explained by a simple soundbite. In a country of 300+ million people with a plethora of cross purposes there's a whole lot that can go wrong and it is.

Good luck getting a handle on it all, I think it may be past the point of any return but I could also wind up being wrong about that. Time will tell I guess

Teflon Lou!
This is the man who had Notre Dame on steroids in the 80's-90's. s. He left a trail of NCAA violations in his wake. Luckily for him, and possibly mysteriously as well, each time he left a school, that school was hit with violations shortly thereafter.

I didn’t even think of that. There is a hypocrisy of coaches that used to pay for players under the table mad everyone can now pay over the tables.
