Based on?
Based on him not being in the portal and basically being guaranteed the starting job in a year, something he won't have anywhere else definitively. There's no "expectation" you can base your presumption of him leaving outside some random social media fodder, almost all of which predated Howard entering the portal.
There is not any reputable reporter who still think Nuss is entering the portal or even that there is a strong possibility of that. If it was more than likely he was, he would have already done it. He's not going to wait until after the spring. If there was going to be an actual competition in the spring, Daniels wouldn't have returned.
Just think about it with some basic common sense and maybe you can untwist your brain on this one. You should start with why Howard left.
Is it possible Nuss transfers? Sure, anything is possible, but your original post saying " providing Nuss transfers as expected" is comical. No, no one is expecting Nuss to transfer

I'd be shocked if Nuss went in the portal. He's still got a good chance to take the starting job outright.

All of this was just as true prior to Howard entering the portal.
Literally nothing has changed except Howard entered the portal which could be completely unrelated.

I guess if Daniels suck arse at the start of the season, but based on Kelly's comments thus far, Daniels is the guy. He wouldn't have returned for a 5th year if he didn't know he'd be starting next season. Like why would he?
My best guess? Kelly sat down with all three of them and told them where they all stood. Howard didn't want to consider not starting in 2023 or 2024 and maybe not 2025, so he packed up his things and left instead of trying to beat Nuss for the job in 2024. It is what it is.

So the only thing that has changed is Nuss now has no competition for the starting job after Daniels exhausts his eligibility in a year. That's pretty significant
Like the reports you're referring to were that they expected one of Howard or Nuss to transfer if Daniels returned for a 5th year, with them leaning towards Nuss since Howard had 4 years of eligibility left. That was all speculation based on the depth chart and position battles. Howard leaving changes all that.

Ah yes. LSU fans celebrating their players standing over an injured opposing player. I’m sure they booed Dart too for being hurt.
What a fricking unintelligent post holy frick.

Like why would he?
Because he knows he's still favored to start on a team that's set up for a run at the playoffs.

As things stand now, he'd have Rickie Collins and Colin Hurley plus any potential transfers.
Not sure Walker Howard was any more "proven" than those guys.
I'd agree that the situation certainly looks ripe for Nuss to stay and I absolutely hope he does but Howard deciding to transfer doesn't seem to be an 100% indicator of that like many LSU fans believe.

What LSU fans REALLY hate is that he transferred to another SEC team (especially Ole Miss). The only thing worse or at least as bad would have been if he had transferred to Bama

No, it's not. You have to at least apply a little rationality. Nuss did not enter the portal prior to spring, so it's safe to assume he's at LSU for spring ball. Yeah, he can transfer after spring, but his options for a starting role will be even slimmer then.
So, does he portal for an unknown, or does he stay at LSU? Even if he's the backup, he'll have a great highlight reel throwing to an elite receiving group.

If nuss hits portal, this site will blow up

He's the bonafide starter in 2024 and will probably make a serious run at things this season.

A 5th year senior would return even if he didn't know he'd be starting? Especially being the returning starter? Yeah, not so sure I buy that. Not when he already has a college degree, has 4 years starting at QB, and could be entering the draft.

I agree.
My point is just that Walker Howard transferring has little to no effect on Nuss' future at LSU IMO.
Nuss is already significantly better than Howard by all indications.
So it makes no sense that Nuss was expected to transfer prior to Howard leaving and suddenly that's definitely not happening now.

So he won't have anyone competing for the job with him, like I said

you said Nuss was still expected to transfer at the beginning of this thread. Why are you slowly trying to crawfish away from that statement?
You go from that to saying "well, he's not 100% staying" when all anyone was ever arguing with you about was your saying he was "expected to transfer" when he's not.

If Kelly has already promised QB1 to Daniels, then Howard was right to transfer, and Nuss would be right to transfer also.
I don't buy the BS about players being promised a starting position.

Again, expectations of him transferring haven't changed on a national level.
The only place they've changed is with LSU fans and the only reason why they've changed is because Walker Howard is transferring, even though that could be completely unrelated.
So I guess my statement isn't true if you're talking about the LSU fanbase, but I wasn't.
