The counter argument is that BK saying JD is his QB1 is so JD won't be looking over his shoulder. But, BK should've said that after the spring. Oh well...

Again, expectations of him transferring haven't changed on a national level.

ok, I'm done here

No one "at the national level" has a fricking clue what he's doing and didn't before either

Yeah.

After watching this, and knowing what happened with Brennan, I'm of the opinion that Kelly just allows guys to compete, and when one of them asks a blunt question, Kelly gives them a frank answer. "No, Brennan, you're not going to start this year." "Yes, Howard, you are well behind Daniels and Nuss on the depth chart." I don't see anything wrong with that approach.

I also don't see Daniels, Nuss, or Howard as the types to demand a starting role. A few weeks ago a story came out that Howard did not want to spend another year on scout team. I was a little surprised he portaled, and I think Ole Miss was a bad choice, but it's not like it was random.

Why do you think Ole Miss is a bad choice?

In fairness, 3/6 pages have been LSU fans bickering about whether Nuss will transfer.

But the other 3 pages have been delicious salty Tiger tears.

Maybe "bad choice" isnt the right wording, but there's more open competition at TCU and Florida.

I don't disagree, I don't believe anyone anywhere knows for sure what is going on and what will happen in the future as BK runs a much tighter ship than Orgeron.

It's all guesses and speculation at this point.

I guess my disagreement with most here is that I don't see Howard transferring as an indication of Nuss staying and a lot of the LSU fanbase does.

Immediate playing time might not be his primary interest.

IKR right

Regardless, what he refuses to acknowledge is that the whole Nuss transferring thing was speculation from beat writers to begin with. It wasn't based on some inside report from the locker room. It was LSU reporters looking at LSU's current depth chart, eligibility remaining for Nuss/Howard, and the high prevalence of blue chip transfers in college football. It was purely speculation from the beginning. No one and I mean no one, expected Howard to enter the portal this year. They thought he might if Nuss beat him out next year. What these same people ( the ones Sidewalk is referencing) were speculating is that if Daniels decided to return, that Nuss had a good chance of entering the portal and Howard would be the guy in 2024. For Howard to actually be the one to enter the portal, that completely changes the situation.

I think Ole Miss is a bad choice personally because if Dart doesn't declare after next season, he's not in a much better situation than he would have been here. Kiffin will still sign QBs between now and then as well, so Howard is going to have to compete for a job at Ole Miss and potentially may not have a real opportunity to start until 2024. I think he'd have been a better fit transferring to a program like Auburn, Florida, or somewhere else that has question marks at the position right now. Honestly, I think most people expected him to go to TCU where Bech went since they were high school team mates. I kind of doubted that was a good move since Chandler Morris has 2 years of eligibility left and was the starter at the beginning of the year before getting hurt and Duggan taking over, having beaten out Duggan before the season

Why? He is the backup in 23 and starter in 24-25. Why would he transfer again?

Auburn would've been a good fit. Hugh Freeze gets a lot out of his QBs. But Kiffin is no slouch with them either. Either way, I'm glad he transferred to us and hope it turns into something special.

Gonna take this one back. Howard did make a bad choice. At Ole Miss, he's looking at the same depth chart as he would have had at LSU, he just would have had better coaching and teammates if he had stayed at LSU.

There is not a coach at LSU, or Alabama for that matter, that is as good a qb coach as Kiffin
