Looking for honest opinions here. (I know that's virtually impossible to achieve on the Rant) *if a coach was actively coaching in the last 15 years then his entire resume is applicable*
-Nick Saban
-Urban Meyer
-Kirby Smart
-Spurrier (above Smart if including 90s)
-Dabo
-Les Miles
-Lincoln Riley
-Jim Harbaugh
-Ryan Day
-Brian Kelly
-Gus Malzahn
-Jimbo?? (He does have a natty but terrible outside of that)
-Mark Richt
-Dan Mullen
-Mark Dantonio (I always like his teams at MSU)
-Mark Stoops
-Nick Saban
-Urban Meyer
-Kirby Smart

Over the last 15 years?? There's Saban, then a huge drop off. Following is obviously Dabo, Kirby Smart, and Urban Meyer. As far as resumes go , those are the top 4 without argument IMHO.

This was to pre-address any UF fans that would come in here shouting about "but spurrier in the 90s"

You start throwing guys like that in there, then Gus Malzahn has to be in that group.

As much as I hate it Urban has the rings to be top three. Yeah I know. If not for the “health issues” and the “fingerbutt” clip most people would agreed.
He’s a pure a-hole but he did produce teams that could compete.

Saban
Meyer (OP said 15 years but if you extend this back to 2006, he has 3 titles)
Kirby
Dabo
Les
Harbaugh
Chip Kelly
Brian Kelly
Where would you rank someone like Chris Klieman? He has an interesting resume:
69-6 with 4 national titles in 5 seasons at North Dakota State
Rebuilt Kansas State after Snyder's retirement and won the Big 12 this season

You do realize that the current year is 2023 and not 2014 right?

why are people so hellbent on adjusting the criteria given? The OP is referencing 2008-2022, the last 15 football seasons.
I have no issue at all with Meyer being lumped into that next group behind saban but he shouldn't be in tier on his own.

Meyer changed the way the SEC plays offense and the way the Big 10 recruits.
We were still thumbing our noses at spread offenses and calling them soft and gimmicky until he got to Florida and started playing power football with it.
Similarly, Big 10 teams had all kinds of unspoken recruiting rules that Meyer just trashed as soon as he got to Ohio State. He forced a lot of Big 10 programs to modernize their recruiting.
He is an a-hole and an awful person, but his influence on college football is undeniable.

I don't necessarily disagree with much of what you're saying, but the OP gave a specific time frame so I think it's a bit unfair to throw that to the wind. We're stricktly going by 2008-2022 according to OP. For Meyer that includes:
-An elite national title season at UF in 08
-A pathetic 5 loss team in his final year at UF
-A healthy tenure at OSU including 1 national title. 4-2 record in bowl games. 2 loss teams in 2 of his last 3 seasons.
-A top 3 finish in 2 of his 6 non-probation seasons
That's a solid resume that's highlighted by 2 natioanlt titles. But there is nothing about it that woudl put him in a tier of his own above kirby or dabo

Les miles is too high. I’d honestly take richt or Ryan day over les. Honestly I’d take Riley over him too

Yes he would be. Slipped my mind. I have edited it to include him

I find it funny that CEO has more Natty's than this list
Lincoln Riley
Jim Harbaugh
Ryan Day
Brian Kelly
Gus Malzahn
Mark Richt
Dan Mullen
Mark Dantonio
Mark Stoops
He is tied with Jimbo, and just got passed by Smart.

Gene Chizik won with generational college QB nobody could stop that had an O-line with 4 seniors. And a DT that was unstoppable.
Larry Coker won with a roster full of 1st round draft picks.
Sometimes a mediocre/bad HC just get lucky with the hand they are dealt.

Kirby has a lot of scalps on that list (I'm sure Saban does, too).
Saban x1
Dabo x1
Riley x1
Harbaugh x1
Day x1
Kelly x3
Malzahn x5
Jimbo x1
Mullen x4
Stoops x7
Losses have been to

He was OC for that team, not HC. He lost in 13 with FSU.
