Is Stetson Bennett the most underrated sec player ever?

Everyone, including myself, has been guilty of saying "Georgias great but when they get a 5* talent at QB watch out"
I get he doesn't have the size or arm strength but he was a straight up assassin with his accuracy int he playoffs.
When it was do or die he made the throw. Idgaf if the guy is 6'7" 260 lbs most guys don't hit every time.
I don't think he was the driving force for these nattys (Georgia dominates the LOS) but I think part might he elevated himself imo to the level of AJ McCaron and Johnny Manziel.
He's elite and an SEC legend.
To me the top 3 of Cam, Burrow and Tebow or still tier 1. Those teams never reach their heights without those guys. Georgia could have played Bowers at QB last night and still won

The really impressive thing is that he may have gone from one of the most under-rated to one of the most over-rated in very short order.

Ummm no.
At running back, maybe. Not QB.
Stet ran for 2 TDs and threw 4.
304 yards passing in 3 quarters with a 226 QB efficiency rating is just different.

I watched most of the game on the 4K SkyCam broadcast which was right behind the QB. Stetson was throwing absolute piss missiles into extremely tight windows the entire game.

He's better than AJ, but they're on the same level.
Johnny Manziel is a different tier. A talent like Johnny can carry an otherwise average team. Transplant AJ or Stetson onto the 2012 A&M roster and it'd become real apparent real quick how much their supporting cast contributed to their success. Tebow's somewhere in between that tier and Burrow/Cam tier

Yeah and you won by a million.
Dude your guys Oline was blowing them off the ball.
Y'all could have ran exclusively wildcat and scored 10 for sure.

Agreed - his mobility puts him a step above AJ.
Also agree about Manziel. He's just a different guy/player.

His sidearm throw to Bowers on the winning drive vs Ohio State between two defenders was one of the best throws I’ve seen in CFB, and the skycam was the only angle that did him justice

It's silly to say that Stetson can't play in the NFL at this point. Like with a whole lot of QBs, he needs to be in the right type of situation with an offensive staff who is both good and has the type of system that allows him to do what he does best, but those do exist.
For example, tell me that Stetson Bennett couldn't be a league average QB for Kyle Shannahan in San Francisco right now? I wouldn't be surprised if a specific team sees him as a backup with the possibility to step in with their system and drafts him in the 4th-5th round.

Do you think Bennet could have gotten LSU to Atlanta this year?
Because there's your answer as to whether he's underrated or overrated.

The throw he made down the seam on that drive was absolutely gorgeous. Over the LB and between the safeties, but had to also have enough juice to beat the safeties there. It was perfect.

Yes, absolutely.

LSU had one of the best secondary's in college football history and he carved them up.

Johnny was completely shut down by lsu 2 years in a row. AJ and Stetson always preformed at a high clip in the e biggest moments

I didn't see those in 2021.
Ironically, we were destroying man coverage in 2021 just layering balls to green grass (very tebowesque throwing highlight reels).
Stetson continued to get better and better throughout the 2022 season. Outside of the Ohio game, he answered every concern post 2021 season (3rd down struggles against Ohio were real. He 1st quarter and 4th quarter, he didn't need third downs though).

He’s fast as shite. Very dangerous player glad to have seen the last of him.

Stetson Bennett is not in the same league as those other guys from play to play, but he is like those guys in the sense that when UGA absolutely needs a score, he delivers it.
Also, the defensive player of the game last night was UGA's second lowest rated recruit in the 2021 class. Its not all about the stars.

He would have been killed behind our line in the early part of the season.

I was gonna say can we at least agree Bama/UGA/LSU have better defenses to help with field position and Ws, but looking back, outside of LA Tech A&M 2012 defense was good
You right

Jayden Daniels managed to, and he isn’t that good.
