The guy who will be the first running back selected in the NFL draft is below average?

When Alabama has had quitters, they didn’t get to stand on the sideline for the bowl game.

If a guy wants to quit, then thank him for his work and wish him luck, but he shouldn’t get to quit and still pretend to be on the team.

He choose himself over the team.

THIS!!!
Regardless of who the individual is, if ANY player can play, and chooses to opt out, he should NOT be allowed on the sidelines, or even seen associating with the team during any of the bowl activities.
The sport itself is suppose to teach competition, and the team concept! That's why "sport" was established!

I’m not gonna say that’s not a possibility, but I’m not so certain it’s a lock either

Guys tend to slide a little bit in the draft when their stats disappear against all of the good teams, they played, also want to see how the interviews and workouts go

Why did he risk his livelihood against Baylor and the week before against Kansas, both just as meaningless.

It’s his right, but it’s a shitty argument.

Why play this year at all?
He played all year because Texas had a chance to play in the Conference championship until the last week of the season.

He plays a position where the average career in the NFL is 4 years. You all know that.

He could of transferred and started at any school in the country and probably won the Heisman Trophy. He didn't. You all know that, too.

There is a reason one of his NIL deals is for a $200,000 sports cars and not a $2 condom, or a bag of peanuts.

You look at speed, performance and design of the Lamborghini sports car, it really represents who Bijan is on the field,” Lamborghini Austin manager Bruce Knox said.

How Bijan represents the university, represents himself, the student that he is, the result of that is why he’s got this NIL deal” coach Steve Sarkisian said.

The sky is the limit, and I think that kid down there in Austin, Texas has done a phenomenal job of branding himself,” said the co-founder of MOGL, a platform pairing college athletes with business opportunities.

Bijan was a class act before he came to Texas and he is leaving the same way. He is one of the few shining examples of things that are good for college football. If you don't know that, too bad for you.

That's one a hell of a reach.

Then you tell us why a program with Texas' resources has lost 56 games in the last 10 years. One in which the team played 2 fewer games than normal years.

Culture?
Coaching?
Talent?

Something is causing a Blue Blood to lose regularly. Texas averages 5.6 losses a year in the last 10 years and just finished this season with 5 losses.

What is your opinion of why Texas has entered this rut.

We are headed towards a time in which players begin opting out as soon as their teams eliminate themselves from playoff contention. Yes.....during the regular season.

It sends a really poor message regarding the mentality of the program, unless we're referring to the boys'choir.

I think most will be limited to the best players on perennial mediocre teams like Texas though

Yes. But those players will not show up along the sidelines of the Bowl game. If you don't play in the game, you don't go o the trip and partake of all of the swag and attention.

You might be right, but I suspect it will go through all the teams. Why would a Kentucky player continue to play in the regular season and put his career at risk during the regular season? It's a shame, but that is the direction we are headed in. The covid opt outs gave us a brief glimpse into the future.

It is a conundrum for sure. The culture definitely seems odd and there’s quite a large “me first” attitude amongst a lot of the personnel.

I’m not quick to put it all on Sarkisian just yet because it’s only his second year, the team at least shows marked improvement from last year, and some things happened that were out of his hands, as last nights loss was much more on the players than it was the coaching.

A lot of programs have gone through this type of down period before. Unfortunately for texas, they’re still drudging through it. Still believe Sarkisian is capable, but time will tell. Next season will be huge for him, and I’m not sure how anything less than 10 wins will be accepted

Like any disaster, it is a combination of factors.

- Poor head-coaching hires
- Recruiting classes over-inflated by skill position players while the lines (especially the o-line) were poorly recruited

Also, while 100 dollar handshakes occur everywhere, Texas didn't cheat at an institutional level. There is a reason Texas agreed to join the SEC 1 month after the Alston SCOTUS case set the stage for NIL. Texas will get better because we are now getting better linemen because we are, and will continue to win, these important bidding wars.

Yeah, he should risk his livelihood for the shitty Alamo Bowl…

The Alamo Bowl is in the same tier as the Citrus Bowl and has the highest payout of any non NY6 bowl game. It gets the #2 Big 12 and Pac 12 teams just like how the Citrus gets the #2 SEC and Big 10 teams.

If the Alamo and Citrus bowls are shitty than it would mean there are only 6 good bowls.

The conundrum is how to construct recruiting classes to achieve more of a balance between skill and reliability. 3 stars are less likely to opt out because they haven’t been told they are first round locks for the past 5 years

Tell that to the kid he framed as a racist when it was proven it was false....just to elevate his best friend that also happened to be black. True story, everyone knew.
He is a great athlete, but an ABSOLUTE FRAUD of a person. It is all an act! Dont talk about shite you dont know.

"the point in first round players playing "

That's just it. If they are so damned great, they ought to be chomping at the bit to display their skills. A true competitor would not even consider it. As long as there is an insurance policy against disability they ought to be on the field. Most will sit out, then go in the first round, only to be a flash in the pan and be unemployed in three or four years.

I saw that. I've heard nothing but good things about him in 4 years.

He's been a model citizen since he got to Austin. I know he hands the ball to the referee after he scores. Reminds me of Earl Campbell.

Consider the source. "Tucson is a small town." Really?
