Problem is at this point, might be too late even if she has a sudden change of heart $$$$$$$$
He’s been charged with felony assault. Now this becomes Chris Beard VS State of Texas. There are a multitude of misdemeanor assault charges he could have been charged with, but they have hit him with a felony for a reason.
Imagine the police have a good bit of probable cause as well to have charged him that way.

Alleged complainant apparently does not want to press charges and asking for his release…
Of course she is, they are engaged and his income & position are surely key factors in her interests.
Too late, she made the call to the police & it's assumed to be warranted.
Assuming he's guilty, he's about to be unemployed and unmarketable for all practical purposes at his current level.

Physical evidence.

This right here. In a nutshell.
I like to rag on the nutless bovines with the best of them but this is just sad and no one wins in this situation.

Told you a few pages back. Texas brass already in damage control and working to get this gone. Beard will not be fired, and this will be all a "misunderstanding". Public apology coming soon.

Public apology from whom?

Beard. He will apologize, do some kind of community outreach BS, then go back to coaching at Texas. Victim will drop charges, and it will all go away.

Well, I guess anything is possible.
I would be surprised.
Can you imagine if the Ags tried to hire Art Briles as their OC?

Not how it works. Once the arrest has been made, the victim has no say so in the ultimate prosecution of the case.
It all comes down to the District Attorney pursuing the case. If they have 911 calls and documented physical evidence of a strangulation assault, then I can't really imagine DA droppping the case. Domestic abuse groups would go absolutely apeS#!t.

What the victim does at this point does not matter.
FACT: Someone called 911 and said Beard was choking a woman.
FACT: Police arrested Beard on felony charges for choking a woman.
Nothing else matters. Beard will be fired. Paperwork is being handled as we speak.

Sounds like beard has anger issues right up with the hulk and Bob Knight.

The court of public opinion is pretty timely. Domestic violence won't fly in this day and age
