Dude is coaching the island of misfit toys after raiding the transfer portal and inheriting a bad team with only 38 scholarship players. After a shaky start, all he’s done is beat Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Alabama in year 1. He’s just getting started, and y’all know that he’s about to be able to cherry pick every great player in Louisiana and beyond. The future is bright on the bayou.

IMO LSU is scarier now than they ever were under Miles. Kelly is a competent coach who has been successful everywhere hes been. He brought in great classes at ND which IMO isn't the easiest place to recruit given location and the academics standards, and now hes at LSU where you can sleepwalk to a top 10 class. LSU will be very good for a long time and this might end up being his worst team for at least the next 2-3 years.

I for one welcome our new SECW overlords. Much better than a toothless fan base like the gumps.

I admit I am slightly rustled at LSU's success, thus far.

Georgia has beaten Kelly twice. His play calling wasn’t good and he is big on flopping players when under stress. It’s true that Kelly has improved LSU but people need to tamp down the sky high expectations. It was a great win but Bama isn’t Bama anymore.

Yall need to be reminded that Bama gave up 52 points to UT. Bama is not good this year. The SEC west is not good this year. Congrats on the win, though!

I agree with most of what you say but Notre Dame is definitely not a difficult place to recruit.

Has any Ole Miss coach inherited a talented roster in their first year??

At Notre Dame

SEC schools can get any player they want qualified. I don't think Baton Rouge is the center of human achievement or anything, but its not bad and its close to New Orleans which is a cool city. ND is in an awful location. Just being in the SEC is a recruiting pitch, and like I said earlier LSU can just recruit in-state and land a top class sort of like Georgia or the Florida schools.

You haven't been watching them. He is doing a LOT better than he should be with this team. They improve every week. Many of their key players are freshmen (both tackles, Perkins is a beast).

I said it wasn't the easiest, not that it was difficult. LSU is a MUCH easier place to recruit than ND. Academics alone at ND limit your player pool.

Bama is 190 (5 wins from 2007 were taken away, but he won those games on the field) and 27 under Saban. Anytime you beat a Nick Saban coached Bama team, that is an impressive win. LSU has 5 of those wins and Kelly got him on his first try at LSU. What Kelly did vs. UGA at Notre Dame is not relevant to what he can and will likely do vs. SEC teams with LSU's roster. I will add, this will be the weakest in terms of talent and depth relative to roster that Kelly will have at LSU.

You can get good football players to go to ND, but getting great athletes at ND is difficult. That's the difference.
