Most aren’t saying the girl sustained life altering injuries; but at a minimum it was a bad look for Bama. You’d think Saban would be a little more invested in protecting the Crimson.
It calls to mind an incident in which talented St. Louis Cardinals SS Gary Tempelton was having a bad game and did not run out a play at first. He was booed as he walked off the field for his lack of effort to which he responded by flipping off the crowd (it was an afternoon “ladies day” when they used to do that to boot).
Manager Whitey Herzog was waiting for him at the dugout steps, aggressively grabbing his jersey and pulling him down the steps and slamming him into the dugout wall. Gave him a piece of his mind and suspended him for the rest of the game. Shortly thereafter he was traded to San Diego for Ozzie Smith.
The message was clear you NEVER dishonor the Birds on the Bat. Don’t do that shite while wearing Cardinal red. Ahhh, the good old days when men were MEN, not squirmy little apologists like Saban.

If the AD, or Saban had made a statement stating that Burton had reached out to the young lady and taken responsibility for his actions then handled internally would make sense. But they didn’t. At this point handled internally would come across as printing the cups for putting her in her place on the 50 year anniversary of title 9.

Sorry the only university liable for the situation is UT and I doubt as a student and someone I believe said cheerleader would sue UT.

Saban just gave his players the green light to attack fans, whether they be women or children or what have you. A very dangerous precedent that could likely subject he and the program to legal liability when the next attack happens.
