Let's expose you unwashed SEC barbarians to some truth about going to a game in Austin

I will answer anything you want to know about Austin and UT honestly, and I'll give my best recommendations to anyone who wants them. First, some truths about game weekends:
1. Austin is a good, not great college football destination. No doubt worth making the trip.
2. Traditional tailgaiting is good, not great.
3. It's the best BBQ city in the world.
4. It's expensive.
5. Texas fans are good hosts.
6. The liberal losers who have moved there in flocks dont go to football games.
7. The airport blows.
8. It's not a college town, and doesn't have that cool college town feel.
9. DKR is a good, not great stadium/atmosphere.
10. There are hot women all over the place.
I know our little dick syndrome little brother will be in here shitposting all over the place, just ignore him. I'll give you 100% honesty about whats good and bad.

I was there for work a few years ago. Great city and very good bbq. I found everyone that wasn't an obvious Californian to be very hospitable.

Absolutely. Flying into Austin is expensive no matter what time of year you go.

This was one of my accounts when I lived there. It's nice, but most SEC stadiums are equal or better in terms of size and appearance. The view from the Longhorn club or whatever it's called was cool though.

The Texas "BBQ" I've had sux. While not a "connoisseur", I'm pretty damned handy around a vertical offset stick burner (no Traeger or pellet grills for me) and make my own sauces from scratch.
Texas "BBQ" is too western for my tastes. Not close to Southern.

College football is like a bright light to those cockroaches. UT is a huge school with plenty of normal America loving college football fans, and those are who you will run into in and around the game.
Outside of the game they're obviously around and will at times be serving you food and drinks. Just ignore them, its not like you'll be talking politics with them.
