That's great and all, but let's not act like the teams with the most five stars don't usually win the title. Bama, Uga, Ohio State, etc.
Only you could find something negative in a pretty benign comment about doing due diligence and evaluating based on what shows up on film instead of what some website says.
Also, 2021 was the first year we had NIL, the portal, and immediate eligibility for all transfers. Those UGA championship teams had already been built. Michigan is the only championship team primarily built in the current landscape. Even if you want to count 2022 UGA, that's still 50/50 between stacking 5*s and developing lower rated players. There's not nearly enough evidence to arrive at any conclusions about the best roster building strategy going forward.

Alabama had 18 5 stars, Michigan had 2. They seemed to hold their own against us. There are more factors than stars that have to be considered.

Obviously. But I'll take all those factors AND the best recruits, thank you very much.

Yeah like coaching...
Like not hiring that idiot BOB to not develop a QB for years.
Then following that up by hiring an average OC (but better than BOB!)
who couldn't use the creativity to exploit defenses even though we had so many weapons

I didn't mean anything negative, and not sure why the dig at me for simply stating the obvious. I'm looking back at it, and have no idea why anyone would read my comment as something negative or argumentative.

I'm actually on record in several threads saying I like that they don't simply dive for stars, but actually have their own criteria. I've also stated however that they cant use that as an excuse to finish outside the top 10 in recruiting which was the point of my comment. Any coach at any level will tell you it's the Jimmys and Joes

"The same things win that always won. We just have a different set of excuses if we lose." Bear Bryant
It's a simple truth, and we've seen that play out the last 30 years to the tune of about 100% as it relates to who wins the championship.

What ? I do believe a certain amount of analytics will become more prevalent because teams will have to learn where to spend their payroll, but the fact remains-
If team X has more money to spend than team Y, and buys more talented players no amount of analytics is going to overcome that.
Bottom line I didn't say anything negative- I've simply noticed this constant theme lately here and on podcast and other outlets where I get my Bama media that we are all to expect to take a step backwards in recruiting. Then I read here what seems to be some kind of Pre coping for something that has not even happened yet- A less than stellar recruiting class according to the sites.
I disagree. I see no need for Bama to have some huge falloff especially if DeBear gets out of the gates fast.
They should always be in the mix for the top class because Bama has a great product to sale.
I believe in moneyball and analytics probably more than anyone here because I'm a huge baseball fan and look at those types of numbers often but the fact remains replace a few 4* with 5*:
Replace Seth with Dickerson,
Replace Milroe with Bryce or Tua
Replace Jase with Najee or Henry
Replace Prentice with Smitty, Jeudy, Waddle, Ridley, Ruggs, or Julio
Bama wins a title last year. Better players = win
The teams that hoard the most talent will continue to win the most football games. No amount of analytics will change that.
There are no excuses for having a bad recruiting class at Alabama with the all there is to offer, and the pedigree. If you find some kind of way to be offended or take this message in a negative way then I can't help you.

You know employers nation wide used to hate to see the lack of productivity they knew were coming on this day lol.
One of my old employees used to take the day off for it. I told him I didn't mind him watching from work because I was going to be keeping a close eye on it too, but he said it made him too nervous to work.

He's an Auburn fan. I think he just didn't want me to see him lose his cool whenever a kid flipped.
