Travis Johnson says Alabama Offered him 6 Figures During Recruitment
It's the hypocrisy for me. Being able to do it openly instead of under the table has erased their advantage.

Uh, we almost got the death penalty for actions during the era. Nearly collapsed our program forever. Was the reason Coach Fran left in the middle of the night to come to College Station.
Also, an era in which Nick Saban was coaching in the Big Ten and had nothing to do with Alabama or the SEC.

6 figures in 99/00…. Doubt it

Like everyone doesn’t know this

Someone tell Travis that commas and decimals don't count as figures

Yeah give me a players reaction that didn’t play 22 years ago

Yep. That big advantage Saban had back when he was paying players to come to Bama in 1999 and 2000 has been wiped away.

I don't think Saban was at bama in the 80's

You do realize this is from 2000, right?

How is this relevant? I wonder if A&M has ever given a recruit a car?

Rueben Foster lived in a pretty big house with a backyard pool when he was in college
My old roommate played for Bama back then and was paid routinely

Travis Johnson was being recruited to Alabama by Mike DuBose, not Nick Saban. Plus...it's a well-known fact that we were put on probation in 2002 precisely because we were paying players to come to Tuscaloosa during that era of our program.

so bama offered this cat 6 figures in 1999 but he turned it down to play for free at florida state?

Texas A&M offered me $375,000 to play football.
It was really weird because I was in the band.
Just goes to show that A&M cheats… they’re just really stupid at it.

Alabama was paying players before anyone. They mastered it. I honestly never had a problem with it. It’s the hypocrisy that irritates me

I find this hard to believe, when all sec freshman linebackers were only getting a used car, with almost 100k miles on it.

Yea, we know what we did in 99. Basically got the death penalty for it.
Whats this got to do with 2022?
