At what point did you stop caring about being super fit?

I care about my body to a point, but it just don’t care to grind out abbs and all that anymore.

I'm 35 and I have only cared about my blood pressure, cholesterol, and other readings done during my yearly blood work for several years now. I gave up trying to get the 6 pack abs and ripped muscles mainly because my body type doesn't really allow it

I have three kids, and a good, but taxing job. Between the kids, the hours, and the honey do lists, hitting the gym has taken a huge back seat. I tell myself that when the kids move out I'm turning one on the bedrooms into a home gym, but I'm probably lying lol.

Still care...different goals these days. Just finished a 10k this morning and 100 pushups for the 42cd day (pushups) in a row. Usually go 1-2 miles every morning except weekends, a habit I've had since the army.

Definitely! It can be more difficult with kids but mine are my motivation.

I transitioned from ego workouts at around 35. At 47, I'm healthier than I was then.

The best way to tell if you're in a serious relationship is whether or not both of you have gained 20 lbs

Very true and probably worth a whole new thread for discussion, right?

My diet was never gonna let me have a six-pack even in High School. Plus I'm a barrel chested SOB so I've never been able to look super cut. But, right now I'm way thinner and stronger than I was when I graduated Bama a few years ago. I'm currently working out and running a bunch because I fear how bad my habits will be when I'm married and have kids

In my mid 60’s and at college weight. It’s shifted a little but I stopped running and lifting 30 years ago. Eat good heathy food (once a day and only what fits on the plate, no dessert) drink in moderation ( Les than 10 a day), smile good cigars (not Tampa Nuggets) have sex (with opposite sex) as much as possible and you will be fine. I have lost 10” on my vertical jump but I only know that because I had to get a ball out of tree my granddaughter had kicked on it. Works for me but everyone is different.

Closing in on 40. I've always carried some extra weight since I lifted and told myself I was healthy. Started cycling a couple years ago and it was the first time I realized I had never really taken care of my cardiovascular system. It was a humbling experience but seeing guys in their 50/60s smoke young guys is promising. It's something I can do for a long time.

If you can find a group you like it's easy to keep weight off and keep your body going. Just mix in a couple strength sessions a week to keep some muscle mass.

As you get older, staying fit is less about working out and more about eating right.

For years in my late twenties, after I started making real money, I was convinced I could and should eat everything I wanted and that I could just work out more to make up the difference. Wrong. That shite didn't work at all and I developed a dad bod.

A couple years into my thirties I realized portion control is the best way to manage my diet. I still eat just about whatever I want. I just don't eat a shite ton of it and I don't eat it late at night.

I've lost 30 pounds since when I got married just by not making a happy plate every damn night and not eating a bunch of cookies before bed.

One of the best benefits of not over eating when you get older is you won't get indigestion and heartburn. That's one of the things they don't really tell you about getting old. The last Bama game I went to this year I thought I could scarf down a bunch of food and then chug the last bit of my whiskey drink before I walked into the stadium. Wrong! I had so much heartburn before I could even make it to my seat. I was checking all the concession stands for Tums.

I don't know if I ever really stopped caring, but it got easy to ignore it sometime in my 30s with jobs, wife, kid, chores, etc.

I'm 45 now, and seeing myself in the mirror after losing muscle and gaining 15-20 lbs of fat has gotten me re-motivated. I won't ever grace the cover of Fitness magazine, but I'm eating better and working out at home. Slowly working back toward being less of a skinnyfat slob.

At 71 I still care. Just have to stop eating real meals after 5:30 pm otherwise you're going to wear them around your waist. Once you realize you no longer have a night shift that handles the metabolism task, then you will be better off.

I have two teenagers that enjoy lifting. It is very motivational to maintain superiority over them.

My knees are shite so my oldest has definitely moved ahead of me when it comes to squats, but I smoke his arse on the bench and overhead press.

My middle child is getting up there though. Gonna put him in his place this afternoon.

My schedule is so hectic I would never have time for the gym. I should say my taxi service for my kids. I have 5 kids and at least 2 of them have something everyday of the week. Luckily they love the outdoors, so things like mtn biking, hiking, fly fishing, and river play we are always outside. As others mentioned the real key is lifestyle as you get older especially on the eating side and your diet. Hard at times because activities after school make late nights getting home during the school week and to easy to stop at a drive through. Plus eating healthy with 5 kids who could eat a buffet daily gets expensive. Even though they all look skinny because of their metabolism and outdoor activities 7 days a week.

Biggest issue for me are injuries mostly from time in the Corps. Right knee multiple surgeries, left knee heading towards one, right ankle torn up from to many jumps, left shoulder and arm never recovered fully post surgery.

I've kept off 60+ pounds since around 2017, went from 230 to in the 160s. Turned 30 this past year and have never really got close to getting back to that weight, was around 175 at the end of the year(I crashed HARD after dropping to 157 in June). Friend said I got in "Patrick Bateman shape" at 157, but it was so exhausting to keep that up.

I'm a proponent of DDPY, you'll get in good shape but you're never gonna be jacked to the gills. I don't do anything crazy diet wise, try to avoid excess and keep ingredients low. Gave up beer on my own, which is funny because I work in a local brewery
