That only corroborates what Tay was saying about him and Kobe.

The only thing this corroborates is that Gus’s players were charmin soft.

Shocking a guy who lived in Idaho basically his whole life has trouble relating to poor black kids from the south.

Perhaps something that should’ve been considered in our hiring process last year, of course…

Harsin came for a culture change, but it sounds like a lot of players/coaches aren't buying in. And losing games make it even harder.

What does Gus have to do with said player?

Tay flat out said Harsin didn’t understand southern black athletes. How is that on Kobe?

Then he won't ever succeed here. The players that come out of this region have their own intricacies and needs. Lots of them come from a specific background.

The Harsin approach seems to be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You need to recruit players in this region to win; he's getting his clock worked from that end and his personality and approach isn't helping.

Seems to me that if you want to recruit successfully then you need to be able to build a strong rapport with the population from which you intend to recruit.

They?

Maybe it’s just Kobe doesn’t understand. Those supporting his take doesn’t make them right either.

More than likely it’s somewhere in the middle.

Teams recruit players from all over the country and they have to meld into the area they are now living.

Another note.

I’m going to take more stock from Wooten and Hall who are veteran players who support Harsin and his style over a Hudson who simply didn’t like how he was treated and made it a race/southern culture thing.

Auburn can not "recruit players from all over the country". Who is he going to recruit? He couldn't even land the WR from Oregon that he had a relationship with. Apparently he did nothing to pitch NIL there and Michigan did. He recruited the OL from Washington (Agbo) and then suddenly dropped him, or he wasn't a "fit".

Auburn needs to be able to recruit Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Those players have a specific culture. Furthermore, he has done nothing to build rapport with the HS coaches in these states. He is just starting to hit places that he should have hit 12 months ago. The HS coaches apparently see him as a joke.

What you are trying to convince yourself of is that everyone else is crazy, and he's right. He has made al ot of mistakes and his approach is highly questionable. The universe will not bend to make it align with Harsin's "methodology".

Que?

All I said was it corraborates with the opinion of a Twitter Auburn dude that often hangs out with these players.

Smoke was always a basket case in the head. Just because a coach doesn’t approve of you running the streets doesn’t mean he doesn’t get it. Smoke always seemed like he had an attitude problem, and this speaks to that.

I’m sure Harsin can’t relate to southern black kids like alot of other people can tho, sure. Hopefully someone can help him with that. He needs to go spend a week in the hood with T Reed and get familiar.

No I’m not. I simply zoned in on one aspect.

Your point are good too and I agree Harsin has not shown he can recruit outside here but it’s hard to gauge when he keeps losing recruiters.

He does need better recruiting closers.

Look, I respect your opinion. But players that he didn't recruit leaving is not a huge surprise. It would have been the same if we had hired anyone. Fire Harsin because of his current recruiting class, the MSU game, hiring Bobo, the train wreck that was his O. All great reasons. What I have seen so far is just people who are on the outs taking shots, and personal ones.
