That 2010 team was a lot more talented than they're given credit for.

Lol how did that work out for Anthony Edwards?

Lol Cam Newton would disagree. I think you are trying to over simplify this.

CBB is harder with respect to winning a title, too many competitive mid-majors, cinderella runs, upsets, etc. Recruiting is also harder because teams are competing against the G league, even international teams in some cases.

However, building and maintaining a successful football program requires more resources for sure.

I think it’s easier to have a random great year or two in basketball and much more difficult to build a consistently great program. Mostly because of how variable the sport is on a nightly basis, let alone year after year

8 different teams have managed to win an NC in CBB since 2010.

7 different teams have managed to win an NC in CFB since 2010.

Looks pretty similar

This is a tough question. This year in football it was pretty obvious which two teams would play for the title, though Bama wasn't the usual Bama. The best recruiting and very good coaching staffs put them there. Everyone else was on the outside looking in. But football is difficult because if you lose more than one game you'll be out of the playoff picture most likely.

In basketball a cinderella has a shot and many better teams are knocked out of the dance each year by groups of guys who have played together for a few years. Due to player turnover the dynasty days of basketball are over.

For most teams a football natty would be more impressive, IMO, because only a small handful of teams have even a remote shot at it.......at this time..

Just my two cents worth.

While great to watch, a 64 team single elimination tournament is a terrible way to decide a champion of a season.
So its easier for a “undeserving” team to win but much harder to maintain success
If CBB wants a more legit champ. it needs to be something like a 8-16 team tourney with playing best of 2 of 3

Basketball is far harder to end on top than football and it’s not even close.

Thats because it involves a lot more luck than football. That in no way means its more impressive.

It's my firm contention that was the best UGA team I've seen in the last 20 years.

The best UGA teams of the past 20 years were all coached by Kirby Smart.

Depends on how you interpret your question….in football, you get much more bias if you’re a “big name”. For example, Bama didn’t even win the division in 2017, much less the conference, and yet there they were. Just like basketball, if there are more teams; the harder it will be to win…and yes I recognize that semifinal games have been but kickings, but I don’t think you’d see those with an extra game or two

Though I agree that a double elimination would be more fair, it could have benefitted all of us in the past, there is no way in hades that they are messing with this cash cow.

But I love March Madness, especially if we are invited, and I don't want it changed.

This tourney is literally "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat".Do or die. And it can happen each day they play.

You never gave a specific time period.

So therefore yes John Wooden did accomplish that feat in historical fashion at UCLA.

They still had to go through the gauntlet of the NCAA tournament back then just like they do today so yes that era still counts lol.

Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to the NC, Arizona won the NC in basketball as a 6 seed, Villanova won the NC as an 8 seed with a 9-7 conference record and 10 losses, Michigan with Glen Rice was a 6 seed. You don’t even have to be a dominant program. You have to get in and get hot.

It takes a heck of a lot less cash to win in bball than football.

I’d also point out that in the instance of Cam Newton that was still an Auburn team with plenty of talent. It’s not like Cam went to Maryland and they won the NC. Auburn is always going to have at least a top 20 roster.

Easily football. We even made a Final Four in basketball and hung with Gonzaga with a chance to make the title game in 2017.

Seems like the only fans trying to argue in favor of basketball currently are awful at football. I can't imagine why that is.

Basketball. There's more parity and the champion has to win 6 games in a row to finish the season, all against the best competition there is to offer, and all of this coming after a 30+ game season.

It's also much more common to have to combat a poor shooting night of your own than it is to combat a couple of football players having a bad day and missing assignments.

However, I would argue that building a consistent football program is harder than building one in basketball.
