[Before you say it, this has nothing to do with A&M, 8&4feit, or whatever you want to call us]
Opting out of these shitty bowl games is the only way to expedite the elimination of these useless bowls and expansion of the CFP.
If you take big programs out of these bowls, less people will watch and they will be eliminated. They will have no choice but to expand.
Is Auburn, Mizzou, Miss St or Florida’s programs in a better spot now for having played in these games? Is the SEC? No. All it does is give smaller programs a consolation prize for beating a power 5 with all their best players opted out.

For one, their participation means more money for our conference.

Why would a team turn down television/physical exposure, extra practices, free shite for players, a free trip, and money for the program?

For many of the smaller schools who have zero shot at a NC, a bowl is a huge payday for them. Quit trying to justify your team’s sandy vagina

You get like 16 more practices and a game.
Drinkschlitz gave a great blue print for how to treat it.
Our RB position is a microcosm of it. He didn't let Badie play even though we probably would've won with him.
Dawson Downing, a 6th year RB who was a walk on who earned a scholarship got half the carries and Elijah Young who will probably start next year got the other half.
So you basically just use it for the practices to get a preview on your team for next year and to give heart and soul guys like Downing game reps

No. What needs to happen is the criteria for bowl qualification should be changed to 8 wins. Of course, pussies with 8 wins will still be pussies.

Keep the bowls. I need more football

Is the SEC?
So yes, there is something to be gained from the lesser bowls, even if they are not entertaining to watch when the best athletes opt out.

Not how it works. TV is dead between Christmas and New Year. Even dead cat bowls are money makers this week.

No one is going to turn down extra practices and the millions that we get to share as a conference. That's fricking stupid.

extra practices
The majority of these teams aren't turning down additional practice time - that is the scam in this whole thing and why TAMU and others should be ashamed. They are ACCEPTING the bowl invites - getting extra practices - then quitting as close up to the game as possible (see UCLA). They blame Covid because no one can argue against it

Yes. It was worth it. We had like 20 guys out and this was an audition for next year. You can't replicate game reps.

Auburn didn't take the coward's way out.

The way you guys quit is like a father leaving his family then blaming it on the concept of marriage as a whole.

So I see, you’re saying that Texas A&M is leading a cause to eliminate “useless bowls.”

Most teams sit their starters & the backups get the most reps, invaluable to the coaching staff & younger players. As well, the bowl experience, regardless of which one, is a great reward for all the players, especially for those who worked their asses off all season & saw very little if any playing time. It's basically an all expenses paid vacation for the players & staff families. As opposed to aggie players getting an extra 2 weeks in.......College Station.
