Announced his retirement from the NFL. One of the hardest hitting LB’s for Alabama. He made two of the biggest plays in two of his three Super Bowl wins. Stopping MarShawn Lynch the play before the Malcolm Butler INT. Then the sack fumble on Matt Ryan that started the 28-3 comeback. Congrats Zeus.

* 2 National Championships
* 3 Super Bowl rings

You'd have an additional upvote if you didn't bring up the 28-3 situation. Could have just said 2 NC's and 3 SB rings. No need to bring up old shite.

I can only imagine how much he dominated high school. I take cases down there from time to time. Not a big place

Hightower before his injury was the most destructive LB I'd seen come through Tuscaloosa until Will Anderson arrived.

Most people never saw his full athleticism because he was injured early in his career against Arkansas and really never got all of his explosiveness back, but before that he was a weapon of war on defense coming off the corner.

Glad he got to have such a productive pro career and put away some money doing it.

I really think he could have been even better had he not gotten his knee shredded by a cut block while playing Arkansas in 09.

I actually played against him in high school. Oddly I wasn’t super impressed with him. I mean he was good but he didn’t stand out like I thought he would. Probably just because it’s hard to do that playing LB.

He was very destructive, in a great way for Tide fans. Pairing him with Rolando and Cody in the middle was quite a force.

I’m guessing you didn’t get to watch DT?

Hightower was part of that epic 2008 class that laid the foundation for the next 15 years of greatness

Good dude.

We lived in the same apartment complex back when I attended Alabama. One day I helped chase down his dog after it got loose. That night we ran into each other at Innisfree. He came in wearing the Bear's signature houndstooth hat with a cigar clutched in his mouth.

One of my favorite Hightower plays was from the 2011 LSU regular season game, right before the half when he stuffed the LSU rb on 2nd and goal from the 2 yard line with 8 seconds left to force a field goal. They showed a great zoomed in slow motion replay of it, and its just perfect technique MLB play. Every coach should show that clip to their inside LBers. I don't care if it was low-scoring, that game was one of the most intense games I've ever watched.

Here is the play I am referring to, and the slow mo replays that follow.
