Bama still playing Miller is because he hasn't been charged w/a crime

Prosecutors don't have any evidence of Miller being an accessory -- even though he's the one who brought the actual murderer the gun -- because there is no evidence of Miller having prior knowledge of and INTENT of that weapon to be used in a crime!
Under law in just about every state, Miller wouldn't be charged under the circumstances. There's just no evidence of Miller's intent that would reveal him purposely being involved with the murder. Until there is, I can see why he is still being allowed to play.
Early on, I thought it would be wise for Oates to suspend Miller until everything was cleared up. I still do, but he doesn't have to.

Ummm sir, this isn’t a place for common sense and logic.

Not sure this needed a new thread but I agree.

People have been charged for much less, but those people aren't the star basketball player at the University of Alabama. Whether they have enough to convict him is another matter.

What do you expect? One event happened out of state, and one event happened in Tuscaloosa...guess which one got swept under the rug?

The prosecutor would need a new job if they charged , tanking Bama’s season , then failed to get a conviction

I know, it's really crazy that he is not being arrested for his actions that did not break any laws.
It's almost like we are in a country of rules and laws.

You just answered your own dilemma. Lots of folks get charged. Just go down to your local police station and file.
Covicting is a different matter. You had better have the legal facts. Otherwise, you could end up like the foolish DA that was disbarred because he rushed to judgement with the Duke players.
Stupid is as stupid does.

None of those matter if the person in question is involved with Bama athletics apparently.

I'm with you going back to the beginning, I would've suspended him for one game for putting himself in that situation, as Saban rightly said, then afterward would have waited until investigation played out before doing anything else, which at this point would seem like nothing else is going to happen so no further punishment needed.

Too much common sense here. Even one of the witnesses who said she saw Brandon hand something said it kinda looked like he passed some food after she was pressed. I still stand behind he should have been suspended until all witnesses and testimony was done. He’d have been out maybe 4 games.

Let's be honest here. Most of us want him to sit because we hate Bama. If he were our team, we'd want him playing. Some will lie and say that's not true, but most of them will be lying.

quote:People keep saying this, like there is still some kind of ongoing investigation into Brandon Miller's involvement. There's not. There's nothing to "clear up". There's a murder case against a former teammate and his friend which may or may not result in a conviction of some kind, and based the latest available information may not actually be the slam-dunk people originally thought it would be. That case may take years to wind its way through the legal system.

If you’re comparing this to the Mitchell case, they had the evidence they needed to bring charges against Mitchell. In the Miller case, they did not. Unless you’re advocating for charging people with crimes for which the prosecutors lack the evidence meet the elements of.

There’s not “no evidence.” There is not conclusive evidence. People have been charged with less evidence.
