How can people say we need 9 conference games to be fair when other conferences like the p12 and b12 are adding g5(SDU, SMU) teams for their 8th and 9th game.

Just do what we tell you to do.

because your 2023 schedule looks like a p12 and b12 schedule

ESPN wants another SEC vs SEC matchup. With the expanded playoff 9 is the answer.

ACC and SEC have long standing cross conference rivals
8 conference games is good
B12 / B1G / PAC have no long standing cross conference rivals
9 conference games is good
(heck, other 3 have pamper soft conferences they could go to 10)

Shitty OOC games are pointless. Only need 1 a year, 2 max.

SunBelt probably tougher conference than B1G or PAC

Everyone should be rooting for 9 conference games, more good games to watch is better. Too many cupcake games in the current 4 OOC game format that SEC teams have abused for far too long. Too many schools scheduling 2 or even 3 rent-a-wins which just sucks as a fan. Get that down to 1 or 2.
The B12 is adding basically the best mid-majors really out there for the most part and there's a big difference in playing them vs. Wofford or UTEP.
Also I'd rather play a Vandy than Cinci, BYU, UCF or Houston.

I used to be opposed, but after 2020 and getting to play 10 conference games in a year, it made for a much more fun season, every game worth its salt.

Because the SEC will have close to half of the teams in the playoffs.
Plus, we won't have to watch (not that we ever did) Bama vs. SE Tennessee or LSU vs. NW Missouri State.
Fewer BS games will mean better weekends in the SEC...

I get it, but the other conferences getting an autobid while we handycap ourselves with harder competition. They should just remove the Autobids and Byes only for conference winners

Nine game SEC schedule, please.

Hearing Sankey talk this morning on JOX 9 games is all but a done deal.
Also, no divisions is a good as a done deal. The top two will meet in the seccg. He used the example of last year it would have been UT and UGA in Atlanta. I like the idea of the top two. It wasn’t good with one division with an undefeated champ and the other with four losses that actually finished 5th in the conference playing in Atlanta.

ironic as OU benefited from a soft 9 game conference schedule

I approve of this which is why I am also fine if the traditional heavy hitters aren’t playing all the others every year, just their traditional rivals-means hopefully fewer repeat games for the conference championship.

Starting in 2024, there will be:
USC - Notre Dame
USC - Stanford (not sure what's going to happen to this game with USC's move)
BYU - Utah
BYU - Utah St
Colorado - Colorado St
Iowa - Iowa St
Cincinnati - Louisville
Cincinnati - Miami (OH)
Oklahoma - Oklahoma St
UCLA - Cal
There also used to be others but those yearly matchups ended due to conference realignment/expansion
Notre Dame - Michigan
Notre Dame - Michigan St
Notre Dame - Purdue
Penn St - Pitt
Maryland - UVA
Nebraska - OU
Nebraska - Kansas
Kansas - Missouri
etc.

There are only 3 teams who do, and that's comparable to what those other conferences have had as well

If we are going to have a conference with 16 teams, it wouldn't make sense to only play 8 conference games a year. Might as well not have that many teams if you barely play each other (I was against expansion in 2012 and am against it now too fwiw)
