What about Tuberville? Part of 3 national title teams at Miami in various capacities, DC for a 10-0-1 aTm team, winning record in 3 of his 4 seasons, and overall, at Ole Miss.

I kind of think it will be Durkin. I am not sure if that is the right hire or not. We have missed on a lot of candidates. This was a bad year to be in the market. Whoever we hire, I will be pulling for.

So, will Durkin be announced tomorrow or Monday?

I hope the reporters mercilessly drag Cohen at the press conference.

His record at OM was terrible. He won as a DC, but so has Charles Kelley. And to be honest, he should have been fired after 03.

I don't want him, but DJ will be our coach.

I think he would do well at Auburn. He is at a school paying 6 million so he would be a cheap get. His background is very interesting. Definitely a great coach at X and Os

If Durkin had the same results and wasn't tied around the neck with this bullshite offense Freeze put together and was at Oklahoma, Texas, UGA, Ohio State, aTm... we would all be on board to give Durkin a chance.

I still don't think it's a done deal Durkin. I think Sumrall is probably still the most likely but we aren't getting into a bidding war with UF for Sumrall so if they want to pay him 9-11 million a year. Go for it.

ESPN is reporting him to UF and also reported he explicitly withdrew his name from our search… why do you think he still has a chance? What am I missing?

It’s not all DJ’s fault and it’s not necessarily fair, but I really just don’t want anyone on this staff retained at this point. We are officially in the worst stretch of football in Auburn football history and tonight was just more of the exact same bullshite we’ve seen all season. This is unacceptable and should never happen at a place as storied as Auburn. It’s truly shameful.

Then why isn't anyone suggesting the DC's from those teams?

People keep trying to make this argument and it is stupid. We aren't looking at a single coordinator apart from Durkin (Who coaches here already). So no, he would not be looked at if he were the DC at another school.

And really the actual scenario here is that he is the "good" DC at a losing school. Would anyone here be happy if we were looking at FSU's DC for the HC opening if their defense was slightly better?

to be fair, Sumrall "withdrew" his name from the UF search earlier in the week.

Sumrall has just been bidding his services to the highest bidder. Let's move on.

Durkin is what 11-17 as a HC now?

Rileys HC record is 89–27. Thats good enough to get Auburn in the Playoffs most years. He may not have trophies or you can claim he loses in big time games, but Kiffin hasnt won anything either, and his record vs ranked teams is no better. Who would you consider a better or more qualified hire than Riley?

Kiffin is 90-40 as a P4 HC, BTW

A mediocre DC that has given up how many 4th quarter leads?

Coordinators still have been more successful lately then hiring experienced coaches from G5.

Kirby
Lanning
Huepel

Huepel was a G5 coach and not a very good one at that.
