Any coach who is serious about laying the foundation for his success at his next job - would not be hashing crap back and forth with signing day next week.

Penn State, LSU, Auburn, and Florida have been “open” for over a month.

If I am running these programs - a coach has about 24 hours to say yes or it is a no from me and I am moving on.

The only exception would be for a coach like Kiffin or Riley who have good jobs and making a change may or may not make sense. I would give those guys some time to think.

But for a coach like Summral - it should be a hard yes to any of these school immediately so he can turn his attention to recruiting.

The longer it takes a coach at a lower level school to say yes - the more it convinces me he’s just worried about money and not about success.

Reddit guy posted again. He said Durkin being forced on everyone was false. The talks with Sumrall turned when UF/OM entered. We are talking to Dilly, Golesh, Drink, DJ and Sumrall. We will have a coach by Monday.

Wake me up when Auburn makes a serious hire that will Win. Like Bama did with Saban, I'm there now but when everyone else gets as tired as the Gumps were of losing then its gonna continue to spiral.

This program needs to go all out and make a top hire like LSU and let the coach clean out this loser mentality in Auburn no matter who chooses to leave. When they do, take their NIL and buy another hired gun with the money.

Im grateful I can start not taking Auburn football serious because this whole situation reeks of JABA

Our pussy fan base will yell War Eagle and celebrate when he's hired, then get on board with it. That's the reason we stay where we are, we are the fricking problem. Get pissed, hit them where it hurts, quit going and supporting this shite

For what its worth, someone on Reddit posted a Hoke post. It basically denied that Durkin or anyone else was forced on Sumrall and said Sumrall was still open to Durkin. Just when Fla backed out on Lane Sumralls interest in Fla went way up and he basically backed out of the Auburn job.

DJ's name needs to be completely removed from contention or they're not serious, because they will just say they tried but felt that Durkin was the best choice.

I don't think we wanted to match their offer.

Dilly would be a homerun given the events of the last 48 hours.

Doesn't matter, he wouldn't be the first coach to sign an extension and then leave for another school soon after.

What does Florida have? Enlighten me

Its not as much as what Florida has as it is how hard it is to coach at Auburn. I would argue that it is one of the , if not the, hardest places in college football to coach at. Considering the schedule, proximity to others recruiting, overall frickery of the program

All of this shows we got caught flat footed. And we did not continue the search and have yet again been left standing with our dick in our hand.

Not if you're coming from the g5 and you don't already have an impressive list of guys you already talked to and you have them a phone call away. You want it to be less of a crapshoot. If the defense sucks 6 games in next year, sure, give him the power to fire DJ and go get his own guy. But year 0 putting the staff together needs to be a joint effort.
