Because whosever the AD is will just do as they’re told.
I’m reminded of what Shug said when asked what it would take to get Alabama to come to Auburn. “A few funerals.”
That’s what it will take for things to change at Auburn now. A few funerals. *
*NewYrkTiger does not advocate violence. He means funerals resulting strictly from natural causes.

You all better get used to it.
Well they can get used to fans booing. Promoting Durkin and retain the majority of the staff will not reset the clock on fans being over poor play. They can expect booing as soon as they look in over their heads.

I was really hoping Auburn had finally learned its lesson and was ready to try a new direction this go around. I understand there is a lot of loyalty to former players.. However, the administration needs to bite the bullet and do what is best for the longterm health of the program. You're either going to continue using the program to keep former athletes gainfully employed or you are going to have to give up control to a coach who can lead the program into a new era. You cannot do both.
You can't run a major college football program with a bunch of dead weight staff that you can't get rid of just because they once played there. It's not helping them develop the necessary coaching skills they need to advance their career.. Look at Dabo Sweeny. The guy was a hangers on around the Bama program for years, going absolutely nowhere. Saban pushed him out and he winds up at Clemson. The right place and the right time, and he ends up winning two national titles as a HC. Moral of the story, you have to leave the nest if you want to learn to fly.

If Auburn doesn’t make a hire that will put us in the top 1/3 of the SEC go ahead and shutdown the program. It’s a waste of time and resources… I’ve always said, anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time. The alumni base has been yanked around for a decade with poor hires and mismanagement..,

More from Florida fans…

Fire Jon Sumrall- from the Florida board
Auburn fans were melting because Sumrall was the favorite.
Now, we’re melting because he’s not coming.
AND, Florida fans are melting because it looks like he’s coming.
Gotta love coaching change season…

It's a bit comical that Cohen's two finalists are Sumrall, a coach who is almost unanimously disliked by fans at other schools, and Durkin, a coach who no other school would even consider.
Great job, Cohen!
Great job, Cohen!

I may get downvoted for this, but i don't really care. I'm gonna wait til Sunday and see what happens, unless something definitive comes out tomorrow, but if they hire Durkin, i think i'm just gonna peace out and find some other hobbies. I'm just tired of all the same ole BS from Auburn.
I didn't even know who Harsin was when he was hired, but got on board because it was something fresh and new from the norm.
As much as I liked Caddy, he wasn't qualified for the job so didn't really want him.
I absolutely didn't want Freeze when he was hired but got on board because i believed what everyone was saying about him having the chops to turn it around only to fail epically.
I don't want Durkin because i just don't think he's HC material and is the laziest hire Auburn could make.
This time we got all of Cohen's BS about "You won't believe the the names of all the sitting head coaches that have shown interest in the job.". although it really looked like for a while we had Sumrall only to more than likely lose him to FL at the last minute due to some stupid shenanigans with assistants. not to mention Cohen saying they would spend what they had to, to get their guy, only to possibly be outbid by FL as well.
Then you have the whole SEC garbage officiating fiasco. Stupid rule change after stupid rule change. NIL with no contracts. Transfer Portal with no real rules. it's just really deflating and is very close to not feeling fun anymore.

The coaching search is just like every one. Everyone freaks last second before the favorite is named. Sumrall will probably be the HC bc his ties and UF fans don't want him.

So is the “Durkin” rumor a smokescreen to make the Sumrall hire palatable?

Dilly gets beat 23-7 at home by zona. I have a feeling this coaching carousel is about to take a wild wild turn. Friday was just an appetizer

I get Florida fan’s resistance. They’re once bitten twice shy. For example, if we were about to be hiring a whore-mongering, washed up has-been, was really only ever mediocre at best when he last coached in the SEC a decade ago before he was fired in controversy and disgrace I’d be pretty salty.
