Reminds me of Dye's last two years

Yeah it's very similar. Very public outing of cheating and the NCAA set up shop in town for a long time. Although, the Ramsey recordings werent live national TV for tens of millions of people to see like Tunsil at the draft was . It was more of a local/regional media circus for Auburn.

It definitely puts the pressure on.

Seems to be a lot of rabid charlatans attacking Freeze for being a charlatan.

Some of you are not old enough to remember when every coach in the SEC had the same mannerisms and speech patterns as Freeze…..

- 2016 Ole Miss schedule was brutal… they played 7 ranked teams… 4 top 15 teams (beat 2 of them).
- Chad Kelly got hurt late in the year, didn’t play in 2 of the losses.
- their team was young… freezes 2016 class was ridiculous, but those guys were freshmen.

By no means an ideal situation in year 5… but it was a combination of several things.

Excellent coverage by the Jackson, Ms Clarion Ledger and the Times-Picayune. I recommend all to read it.
A recovering alcoholic, drug addict, convicted for burglary and false misrepresentation. Steve Robertson who is now a cult hero in Starkville as Harvey is in T-town.
Some damn good stuff in those articles. Any time Nutt is involved with something.... it's going to get dirty.

I remember they were considered "the best two loss team in the country" after close losses to FSU and Alabama and a blowout win against UGA and Memphis. That meme lasted the entire year as they were called "the best seven loss team in the nation"

they just fell apart down the stretch, but helped end Sumlin's tenure with their upset win of TAMU.

They had lost Tunsil to the draft which was Feb of 2016

Didn't they also lose the Nkemdiche brothers after the 2015 season as well?

That may have had some impact on why

Sounds like AU outside of the Dye era

The recruiting rankings had fallen pretty hard for OM by 2015. And most of the five stars left before 2016, right?

Imo, one factor for consistency is year to year good recruiting. AU should be an easier lift for Freeze in that regard, I hope.

They got beat by #4 FSU to open the season, got beat by #1 Bama a couple weeks later. Actually beat Georgia who was top 15 at the time and fell apart after losing 3 straight capped off by the Auburn loss.

They were up 28-6 on FSU, and 24-3 on Alabama. Turnovers were the biggest problems. Alabama was destroying teams in 2016 too.

Yep. Well, Denzel was suspended the year before and never returned I think. Robert was the better player and he was drafted in 2016 with Tunsil. The 2016 season was basically a gap in the early recruitingnhe did and then his last year which was a good class.
