I'd rather have MAR, Joiner, DJ, and Tank over Boobie. He lacked explosiveness.

Kinda premature.
DJ is not as good as Boobie. We saw that the last year he played. He was way better than DJ
Mar, Joiner and Tank, we have no idea what any of them can do if they are the man
It may work out like you said and I hope so but as of now, we have zero idea

Meh. Not so fast. He may have went down hill but he was a pretty good back for our offense.
Ben Tate, Mike Dyer, Tre Mason, CAP, Peyton Barber, Jovon Robinson, Kerryon Johnson, and Kam Pettway were all better.

To be fair Gus required his RB’s to block like TE’s but run like RB’s.

DJ lacks explosiveness too
He’s not Shivers but he’s got plenty of explosiveness IMO. He had by far the longest rush of the season and it would have been longer if he hadn’t gotten focused on Delpit, who DJ beat on the play despite Delpit having an angle on him. Delpit ran a 4.39 at the combine btw.
I think DJ has plenty of speed and quickness, he’s just gotta start seeing the holes better.

I totally agree. But DJ is not better. Yet. And none of the other guys have done anything yet.

He got ran down by someone who was 15 yards behind him. I don’t care if they’re Bo Jackson. They shouldn’t be able to run you down with that big of a lead. He looks like another Malik Miller to me.

I agree and think this is his biggest issue. He just plows up into the backs of the linemen. Doesnt seem like he has any vision or patience. Something that Boobie certainly had.
You could see a big difference when those two were in last year.

Despite all of the debate in this thread about his talent, there’s no reason he should’ve fallen out of the FBS. How you go from the incumbent starting RB at Auburn to a nobody is crazy, yet we’ve seen this song and dance 3 times now. Jovon, Pettway, Boobie.

Rig can you please clean up the bball thread, deleting anything not clearly linked to AU basketball?
Otherwise unpin the thread and I'll change the title.

Explosiveness? No, Never saw that in DJ. Other than that 1 wide open hole he ran through at LSU. The rest of the season he barely could get 3 yards on his carries.
Joiner never shows explosiveness either.
And another poster was right, that the other backs haven't proven if they are better or much better, until we see them in real action.
So Boobie was the most all-round for us. Was he A+? No. He was more a B+ back.
I am hoping that Tank or MAR become that A or A+ back we need.

He averaged 4.8 YPC. That is with choosing the wrong hole most of the time. DJ looked great when he got in space, the problem is that he didn’t give himself the opportunity enough. Either he just wasn’t seeing things develop or he was guessing. That’s his main issue.

He mistook stop dropping the ball to start dropping the school.
Am I the only one that held their breath a little, every time he got the ball?

When has Shivers been explosive exactly?
