People here said the same thing when Hugh lost to NMSU and other games before we hired him. I guess we’ll see.

Tulane's conference is absolute shite. For example Temple is 3-1 or so in conference and get the absolute dust beat off them when they play anyone outside of conference.

Not trying to totally discredit Sumrall but it makes him tough to evaluate

Yea, his resume is just so short. What he did at Troy is awesome. Tulane has been solid since he took it over but they had two 10+ win seasons in a row before he took over. They've been very good since he has been there, but haven't had that level of success. They haven't been a dominant team this year and have struggled with teams they probably shouldn't have. I think he is far from the slam dunk hire some have been saying he is. I like him, I just think people need to pump the breaks a bit on the reality of who the available coaches are in the market right now.

to be fair, these days its impossible to fully evaluate any G6 HCs based on the quality (or lack of same) of their conference peers

you ultimately have to have someone in place who can properly evaluate the plusses and minuses of candidates, and not assume that whatever they may have done in their previous jobs will scale up to your expectations

we miserably failed at this evaluation with our last two hires

Yeah, Willie Fritz is who got them off the floor. And he looks to be doing it again at Houston.

Rough week for Sumrall and Golesh.

It took him a while at Tulane, but he went 12-2 and 11-2 his last 2 years at Tulane. First year at UH was rough, but they're 7-1 this year.

Look no further than Tulane vs Ole Miss. OM led 35-3 with three minutes left in the game.

Now do the difference in Money & Rating of their players.

So you discount their 23-3 win over Northwestern (Who beat Penn State)
34-27 over Duke

Should we go on? So Freeze's big win is Arkansas?

Look Mrs Freeze or however you are related to him. He isn't that successful here. Don't think he can turn it around.

Comparing a person at Tulane and Auburn are apples and oranges just due to the off the field items.

However, it’s about proper evaluation and I think so many fail to do that. They have their mind made up and don’t truly go through the proper assessment.

Another poster whom I hope did not graduate from AU given the lack of thought that goes into his/her/it's posts.
