I have been critical of Bo and his happy feet, but he has a high ceiling. He has that winning mentality. Makes good decisions with the ball, and can extend plays with his feet. I have always questioned if Gus will play talent over seniority, and I think he is here. Joey may be the safer play here, but his ceiling is lower. I am good with the growing pains.

I don't completely disagree with what you post, but this is what the OP said.
Do you believe this to be true?

Overall, no because he didn’t turn it over and he made the clutch play. We probably could’ve won bigger though.

They just aren't asking much of Bo.
Half of his passes yesterday were big time throws to keep drives alive or score a TD. Half of his incomplete passes were guys wide open where clearly Bo got a bit hyped up. For a TF I can't see anyone thinking he isn't playing well. He also reads option very well.

He isn’t turning the ball over, which is huge.
He’s a few deep balls away from breaking it open. When he finally does connect, it’s going to be a real confidence booster for him.

The Hastings overthrow was on Hastings, not Nix. Go look at it again. Hastings starts one way then turns after the ball is thrown.

I feel like yall both have the same opinion of Bo. You’re just taking the comment the wrong way.
You could say we’re winning in spite of him because we’re limiting the offense by not throwing the ball. So we’re winning in spite of not throwing the ball.
On the other hand, you could say OP’s quote is not true because Bo doesn’t do anything to hurt us.
It’s just kinda how you look at that quote

I never claim to have sources because I don’t. But my boss is another big Auburn fan and he has a source that says Schwartz and Nix were really clicking before that injury. If so, they’ll soon to be clicking.

Hope so because this offense will get a lot more dangerous if we can start hitting those. If Nix can start hitting in the mid 60% completion % consistently, we’ll be hard to stop.
If we can get some actually consistency with some screens and quick hitters for Nix, just some easy 5-7 yard throws, it would do wonders for our offense.

I believe it. They were just a couple steps off. Bo has a cannon.
Anyone know what route Hastings was running? He obviously got turned around but I’d be interested to know where he was supposed to be running. Was it a straight go route?

The fact that he’s overthrowing and not underthrowing is what makes me feel much better about his prospects for rapid improvement. Nick Marshall made plenty of early overthrows for us.

No, we aren’t saying the same thing.
He said we are winning despite Bo’s performance.
That is false. He has done a little more than just playing not to hurt us. I don’t know what else to say. Has everyone watched the games? Are we just looking at the overthrows and overlooking some of the other key plays he has made?
No doubt he has looked like a freshman, but there are moments you can see the hype.
Is he the only reason we are winning? Lol, of course not.

Bo has limited turnovers since first half of Oregon.
When he starts hitting some deep balls, we will improve.

I'm fine with his performance so far. Reminds me of Fromm when he first started out.
If we were winning and Bo was throwing 2 picks a game, then this thread would be true.

Bo will be fine once he gets the deep balls worked out. His short passing game is fine (we have no intermediate passing game).
As others said, he throws the ball away a lot, which has resulted in him not having a lot of picks or sacks. It also results in a shitty completion percentage, but I am fine with that. Completion percentage is probably the most BS stat in football because so much goes into it (how good are your receivers, how often are you purposely throwing it away, how many short and easy throws are you completing, etc.)
Gus claims that Bo is missing deep balls because a lot of his targets haven't been practicing due to injuries and what not. He said they need to work out timing. That one miss to Hastings was Hastings' fault (lost it in the sun).
Bo has the arm. I mean he overthrew Schwartz, a world class sprinter. He just needs to get out there every practice and work on timing with those guys. He'll get it down.

"Winning despite Bo" is about as dumb a comment one can make, having watched the first 4 games.
One cannot say:
Bo is a TRUE FRESHMAN
Playing the HARDEST schedule in the country
NOT turning the ball over
And still feel:
Bo stinks
This team is winning BECAUSE OF his ability to run the zone read, not turn the ball over, and have a self confidence that is felt among the entire team. This team is playing AS A TEAM. Everyone doing something to help.

Point I was making, it took a few games for Gustav to begin to fully utilize Nick's talents. I'm a pessimist by nature, so I'll reserve judgement until after the next couple of weeks as to whether he can unleash Bo's potential as quickly and effectively.
But the truth is AU is 4-0 in large part because Bo made plays when he had to, on the road against ranked opponents. Nick fell flat on his face in his first similar opportunity in the stiff dew in Red Stick.
