Using vets to monitor humans doesn’t sound crazy but that means the proverbial shite hit the fan. That’s no bueno.I dont think we have a shortage in respiratory therapists anyways. We have a shortage of actual ventilators and beds that respiratory therapists can use. The RTs and pulmonologists are the front line of defense of this virus and are holding up well right now. The curve will eventually flatten.

If infections significantly spike here, there's a better chance of more and more healthcare workers being infected and having to quarantine for 14 days which may mean we'd have to pull from outside that core of workers. A good family friend is a dr at Emory and their protocol is that if anyone is showing any type of symptoms, they have to stay home until those have abated, regardless of testing positive or not.

The scary part about that is that it seems like many people that get it say it comes in waves, so they may feel bad one day, but the next they think it's gone, then it comes back again that night or the next day even worse. Or maybe they just have mild symptoms, but are carriers and can spread it for up to two weeks or so.

And then there's this from Italy. This says they're no longer giving anyone over 60 a respirator due to the lack of them.

As I finished typing this, an update was just sent from the Atlanta mayor that area hospitals are nearing capacity.

yep. My wife told me that was about to happen. It is the biggest issue with what is going on. Facilities will be overrun.

Our hospital won’t be shutting down anytime soon. We have precautions in place to prevent entry of the virus. We’ll see what happens.

Anybody know anything about how the testing works? I don’t currently have a PCP.. but I got tested Friday at a drive thru clinic. They said wait 1-3 days.

I’m still waiting, and don’t even know who I’m expecting a call from. Would it be from the lab? From the clinic? BC/BS of AL?

I will continue to sell products like I normally do and just do the best we can.
Use your social media accounts to advertise you will direct ship to customers (assuming you will). Fishing is a logical activity to do for anyone near water.

I’m surprised they gave you the test without a Dr order. Probably the clinic. If not them, the lab.

We had to go to the hospital today for a non-viral related check up. We were greeted at the door by 2 security guards and 3 nurses. Temperature checks, ID check, questionnaires, wristbands...finally let in. Security check again at the elevators 20 yards away.

Not sure if serious, but that has nothing to do with people needing to be admitted to the hospital in high numbers.

Wow. Glad they are being vigilant.

They have been doing that at my wives hospital for a couple of weeks.

It's a necessary precaution right now. IMO many more folks will pick up Covid, the best case scenario is that they do not pick it up at the same time, which would push the healthcare system over the brink. This is going to be a very trying time for all healthcare professionals, and I don't know how long it will last.

Because the state is so overloaded with testing, they are not calling the negative results anymore. It is probably a good first step to call the hospital that was running the drive thru clinic.

I agree. More than likely most of us will eventually get the virus and it’s up to our immune system to survive it and build up an immunity toward it. I don’t know how those with medical issues are going to go back to their normal lives though. My father in law has always smoked, he downplays the virus, and works at the closely congested Honda plant and he’s among the people that I worry about.

With what is going on right now, I cant make my mind up who is more ridiculous. Thew people who are in full panic mode over the virus or the ones who think the entire thing is a joke.

I think we need some kind of cage match between these two type of people.

Oh, we've overreacted big time. I'm still not entirely sure why either. This whole situation is very confusing. The numbers on this just don't add up.

Jefferson County shut our business down today. We considered staying open, but when speaking with the SBA people about possibly getting one of these loans they talk about, we were told that if we defied the health dept recommendations, then we risked not getting a loan. In essence, a gov't forced shut down. To further piss me off, we made too much money to qualify for the gov't handouts being offered. NADA on the Trump handout. NADA on the sales tax forgiveness from the state.

Good news is that our landlord, suppliers, vendors, bank, and credit card companies have all offered to work with us through this deal. We've been in business for almost 20 years. We will be in business for another 20 years (hopefully). Now, this is a matter of gov't overreach. We've given them too much control. A fricking county health department shouldn't be able to cripple my business because (40) people have a new type of cold who's mortality rate is about twice that of lightning (280 annually vs 535 current corona victims).

Commonsense doesn't exist in this country anymore. I'm embarrassed by my countrymen's willingness to give up their liberties for any "emergency". And this isn't a partisan issue, Republicans and Democrats are equally guilty of eroding our civil liberties.
