without the mullet

My great uncle lived in Sunnyside just a few miles from Panama City. He went fishing most days. He used to say that his favorite catch was fresh mullet. My favorite is grouper. Living in a landlocked state, I miss fresh seafood.

Man yall are spending some dollars on tuition. All them damn smart kids.

Congrats on all that. Amazing....

That driving thing sounds awesome. When I lived in Georgia, I was very close to Road Atlanta and they had something like that. I said I would go up there and try it but of course I never did. Would be awesome to hear how that was.

I know where you are. I was there in my 30s and early 40s. We were late bloomers on the kids because we were both in college in our 20s. Even though we were married. We still have our 24 year old Autistic son living with us and he always will. Fortunately he is able to stay by himself now for a half of a day or so and we can get out. He comes with us a lot of times but Friday, he stayed home and our new neighbor checked in on him halfway through the day. Nice getting a little separation every once in a while.

I think you jinxed them.

Last few months have kept me lurking more than usual here.

Lost my job in February due to DOGE cuts at CDC. 12 years as a contractor working on websites and get a call after dinner on a Wednesday saying your position is no longer funded. Thank God for savings and unemployment insurance. Between job searching and childcare not nearly as much time to post.

Our 15 month old had surgery last Tuesday to release a tethered spinal cord that was a result of scar tissue from her spina bifida surgery at birth. She came home Friday and is doing great.

Bless her, that's a lot to endure for someone so young. I'm glad she's doing well.

Not even possible. Its like me saying I need to go on a tequila binge so I wont want to drink it anymore

But there really isnt anything worth fighting over right now. Not for normal people anyway. Some will fight over the day of the week........

I think we will all have enough to brawl over come late October.

Hate to hear that. I think Doge is doing some good work but there is fallout. I know that doesnt help you I know and I hope you find something soon bro. Something better than you had. That is typically how things happen. Good luck to you

Man that is horrible and great at the same time. Hell I was a nervous wreck when my kids had tubes put in their ears. Glad she is doing great and you have her at home

Any leads on the job hunting?

Based on his post about working on websites, the job hunting has probably not gone well. Any peers of mine that lost jobs due to DOGE or tech offshoring have been really struggling to find anything close to the jobs they lost.

Some decent leads but nothing coming to fruition yet.

Had a really positive interview with the federal services side of the Creek Indian group in Atmore for a full stack site developer to unify the sites for all of their subdivisions.

But heard from them today they are going to outsource the design/build of the architecture to an outside company and then restart the job search for a content developer.

Praying for your baby. I can’t imagine. I’ve been beat down this year. Dad died unexpectedly and left me a pile of shite. No will. No nothing. To top it off my my mom is now living with us. She has had a few strokes, both her knees, and both her shoulders replaced. She literally is a giant kid. My almost 2 year old and 7 year old boys are way more capable. Every day is a struggle.

Man hate to hear that. My parents are in their 80's now and my mom has been struggling. Hate to hear about your dad.

Hang in there. We went through that with my wife parents. Both passed close to each other and had dementia. Really a hard time. You have your hands full...

Auburn being Auburn. Hopefully Baseball can bring it home!

Reading though the threads I didn’t realize the personalization. We just bought a 2nd house that needed a lot of work (per inspection)….

Then pig lipsticking up the old house to place on the market to the Realtors expectations have hemorrhaged our fun savings.

Wish I was an electrician or plumber!!

I'm not even down in the dumps about it, I'm just tired of talking and reading about it and then watching a mind-numbingly inept season of it, only to have the same conversations and debates again the following off season. I will say I've thought multiple times during this stretch that I need to put a little more respect on the diehard Ole Miss and MSU fans of old who dealt with this year in and year out forever. I think that particularly kicks in when you think you might be a couple seasons away from a change no matter what (ie, last season). I do expect this year to be a bit more interesting, both because we have more talent and should have more on-field things to talk about, and because there is a more realistic possibility of a coaching change if things continue to remain agonizingly sluggish.

100% agree with all of this and I would add that the changes in CFB have diminished my interest.

NIL, transfer portal, and the playoff all suck. Recruiting is no longer that interesting. Alabama and Georgia are still two of the top programs in the country. We’re no longer playing LSU, Ole Miss, or Miss St. We do play Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kentucky.

It just kind of sucks. As someone who doesn’t really have the money to go to a lot of games in Auburn, it’s not something that fills my mind any more. I still believe the on campus gameday experience is fun and a cultural practice. But I just watch on TV and college football isn’t all that entertaining right now.

I’ve trimmed down the size a bit. I’ve got 75 Charolais, 30 Hereford, and 5 longhorns, 5 donkeys.
