This is a very very bad team

Might be the worst Auburn team I’ve seen since 2012. Offense is soft, defense is soft, special teams is alright. The honeymoon period is over; things have to change.

I’d put this one above 2012 and just below 2015. It’s pretty close with 2008.

Next year? Sure. This year? No chance

The problem is there is no sign of improvement. Dye’s ‘81 team was 5-6, but it was crystal clear that we were heading in the right direction. There is NO indication on the filed that anyone at AU right now has any idea what they’re doing. None.

This is the worst since 2012. It’s not near as bad as that team, though. This team is more on the 2008 level.

Bro we replaced like 45 different players. I wasnt alive in 81 but damn- I imagine the continuity was stronger

Going to a few recruiting classes to get some talent in the program. There isn’t much now.

True but game over game there has been nearly zero improvement - 45 new players or not.

Bro, I was very much alive in ‘81, and I assure you, that team had as much talent as this team (maybe less).
Count your lucky stars you don’t remember Barf-field…although you do remember Potato, who may have been even worse.

This team is far worse than 2012 in talent. 2012 was just awful coaching.
This is probably the worst team talent wise since 1998.
And the receiver corps might be the worst in AU history. And of course, QB 0lay is awful. Worse than JJ.

Stop with the talent excuse already. We can't put together a simple high school gameplan on offense. Let alone block, catch, run routes or throw. There are teams with a LOT less talent doing these simple things week end and week out.

Tonight, we were just as bad as we were against Cal. We are not improving anywhere. It’s awful. I hope the rest of the games are day games so I have something else to do and not be subject to this bullshite.

Yep.
That 1982 team is one of my favorite AU teams of all time.
Well coached.
Disciplined.
Just out-talented week after week.
Hell, they traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska and gave the then-powerhouse Huskers all they could handle.
Losses can be excused away in a rebuild.
Disorganization? Lack of discipline? Idiotic play-calling? NO EXCUSE.

Yep. Loads of talent that Gus took to the NC game in 2013.

Stats tonight:
Passing: 12-17 for 122
Rushing: 39 for 153
Total yards: 275
Ole Miss total yards: 425
425 is pretty poor for OM, so our D did alright

Honest question: with the new landscape of college football, does recruiting matter as much? I guess in one respect it does IF you land blue chips and keep them. On the other hand, now with mercenary college football there is no developing recruits and them developing in and for a program. They leave as soon as they don’t play or their wittle feelings get hurt.
I am starting to tune out college athletics because of the clown world it has become. Kids more concerned about IG followers than catching a pass that hits them in the hands or simple fundamental football.
Can someone give me a player they remember since all this transfer/NIL stuff started where they signed, developed, stayed at least 3 years, and contributed to the team? I miss seeing a signing class coming in and actually KNOWING the names of the guys on the team.

Even during the terrible seasons, I could sometimes have hope during certain drives. Every time we get the ball now I don't even want to watch. Freeze and the OC have no excuses. Like...I know we are weak at almost every position, but they should be able to figure out some sort of plan to work at least sometimes. As it is...I am not sure we win another game.

We picked another loser. Yuck. We are in a death spiral.

We have only had Freeze for 7 games.
We can easily go on a run starting tomorrow.
