Then how do you explain Tubs at #4?

Come on McKenna-Doyle.

Not directed at you personally, but it's concerning that she's never ran an athletic department.

Solid ranking. I just can’t wrap my mind around why people want someone with no AD experience leading our department. The AD is not a position to learn on the job.

We have a COO, CFO, CMO and Chief Revenue Officer + two Exec ADs who will have experience captaining the ship with no AD on board.

We have the rare luxury of hiring someone that will "learn on the job" due to our current infrastructure

Mainly looking at the top three. Outside of those, we are reaching. Regarding Long, the Round Table had an Arky reporter on, and said he was actually a good AD. His main faults were he isolated the old guard, and didn’t follow the “Arkansas way.” Paraphrasing of course.

6. Benedict
Would probably move Long to #1 as he's the only one on this list who has any experience being an AD at an SEC school.

Would drop Tubs to #6 with McKenna-Doyle just barely ahead of him. Neither should get serious consideration (which probably means one of them will get the job)

Why would we want to hire the man who is responsible for Beliema, and was just FIRED from his job?

As I stated earlier, he wasn’t fired for poor job performance. He clashed with the suits. Ironically, not hiring Gus seems to be a sticking point.

The search committee is chaired by Gaines Lanier
The AuburnUndercover headline reads "Lanier heads advisory committee as Auburn's AD search begins." My first thought was, "does he bring a bottle of Don Julio to the meetings?"

Few things to consider

1. Hired Petrino who brought Arkansas to prominence for a few years before Petrino pulled a Petrino

2. Hired Mike Anderson to renew the basketball program and oversaw championships in baseball and Track&field.

3. Successfully brought facilities overhaul plans to the tune of $320 million while fundraising with major corporate sponsors

4. Bielema was by all accounts a successful hiring that just didn't work out

Yeah. We would be the only school to have our AD also be our head football coach.

Long would be terrible.

He is not an SEC guy. He turned one of the most passionate fan bases in the country into an apathetic nightmare in just a few short years...he is having trouble finishing out the raise for $120 million in improvements to the stadium....when a few years back, that could have been finished with 3 phone calls. He is arrogant. He is not warm to the fans or big money boosters.

I don't think he'd be terrible. His track record alone isn't terrible and for someone who has spent 10 years in the SEC I'd say he is an SEC guy. Also, for a board that complains about keeping it down home too much I'm not sure we want an "SEC guy".

As far as the end of his tenure at Arkansas goes, I think everyone here would also agree it's very difficult to sit in the AD chair for 10 years. That's about the shelf life it seems nowadays so I'd refrain from judging his entire tenure based on the end just like I'd refrain from judging his time based on their prime

He has a great chance of getting hired by Auburn then.

1 & 2 are OK. The rest of that list I would flush. Scott Etheridge would be 10x better than girl Jay.
